Manager Management & Budget Reporting

Finance: budgeting and forecasting, creating interim and annual financial statements, facilitating internal mergers and acquisitions, as well as dealing with analysts and investors.

Job Purpose

To coordinate and consolidate the budgeting process and revisions thereof in line with the bank’s strategy and overall Group guidelines, and provide the Executive with monthly and other periodic management reports in order for the management to assess financial and non-financial performance against budget or revised estimates.

Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities

To actively participate in formulation of the overall Finance Division strategy and objectives.
To build and/or harness strategic and trusted business partnerships with CIB, PBB and Corporate Functions.
To translate the business units and overall bank’s strategy into credible financial and non-financial targets/ metrics.
Support sustainable performance through more effective planning and budgeting to deliver our client growth journey.

Consistently provide quality, relevant, reliable and timely reporting, with effective communication to internal stakeholders.
To manage production and review of timely management accounting reports for the Bank including:
Monthly, quarterly, half yearly and annual management accounts to Business Units and Corporate Functions;
Review and provide supporting commentary on performance against budget / REs, including investigation into inconsistent items and / or major variances. (i.e. Management Information Pack).
To review and ensure correct monthly PBB and CIB splits are made including relevant commentary.
To ensure costs are correctly allocated to respective Corporate Functions and appropriate costs allocation methodology is applied between PBB and CIB.
To liaise and coordinate with the Head Office profit / cost centres and business units and Group Finance in respect of queries, variances and results.
To consolidate all exception reporting and review explanations for reasonableness.
To review and report on Business Units interest margin performance, including trends against budget and comparative periods and advice business accordingly.
To produce and provide timely project management report on CTB and in-country projects.
To coordinate meeting with business partners in both PBB and CIB and Corporate Functions monthly and/or periodically for business performance engagements

Preferred Qualification and Experience

Chartered Accountant or equivalent postgraduate qualifications in Financial Management and Accounting.
Minimum of 5 years experience.at managerial level
Strategic and scenario planning and management experience.
Experience in change management and has the ability to positively lead change.

Knowledge/Technical Skills/Expertise

Solid stakeholders’ management
Strong technology and systems knowledge and implementation experience.
Computer literacy and knowledge of personal computers and software packages such as MS Word, MS Excel, MS Power Point and MS Access. Working knowledge of Bankmaster and Branchpower is an added advantage.
Good communication and presentation skills at a senior level.
Understanding of the requirements of International Financial Reporting Standards.
