Job Summary:
Under direction and leadership of the Coordinator Health and Wellness provides develops, administers, evaluates and coordinates all HIV/AIDS related activities, programs and services for the student body. Develops and implements policies and procedures HIV/AIDS related programs and services.
Primary Duties:
- Carry out the pre-test, rapid testing for HIV anti-body, Post-test counseling and follow ups;
- Provide both pre-test and post-test counseling to clients;
- To refer clients for further management of their conditions to the clinic/health centres and district hospitals;
- Keep confidential reports and records of the clients;
- To compile monthly, quarterly and annual reports;
- Follow national policy and guidelines on protocols on HIV/AIDS Counseling;
- Assess clients according to WHO clinical staging;
- Participate in the Quality Control (QC) and Quality Assurance (QA) program related to HIV testing and counseling.
- Submitting HTC, ARV’s and family reports and orders at DMTCT (District Health Management Team;
- Provide Health education to the clients and pregnant mothers;
- Provide HTC to all pregnant mothers and educate them on PMTCT (Prevention of Mother To Child Transmission);
- Carry out DNA-PCR test to the exposed infants (born from HIV Positive Mothers) to determine their HIV status;
- Submitting NUL Clinic ANC reports and collecting materials, documents, equipment from the Ministry of health and DHMT;
- Holding awareness campaigns with other local partners;
- Adherence to preparations/education, monitoring and follow up on (ART) antiretroviral therapy and T.B.;
- Carry out community mobilization;
- To support people infected and affected with HIV/AIDS;
- Do HTC advocacy and awareness;
- Training of communities, students and staff on HIV/AIDS issues;
- Tracking defaulters (ART) even in the most remote rural areas using a motor cycle provided by Riders for Health;
- Collecting injections/needles, testing equipment and others from the Lab at St. Joseph’s Hospital or Maseru with the Motor cycle;
- Transporting specimen from the clinic to the lab and collect the results using the motor cycle;
- Making sure IEC materials, condom dispensers and condoms are available;
- Using the motor cycle for NUL clinic requirements in and outside Roma area as a support to an Ambulance;
- Working hand in hand with NUL clinic staff members for the benefit of the patients/clients.
Minimum Qualifications and Requirements:
- Certificate in HIV and AIDS Counseling or Health, Social and Behavioral Sciences, or Diploma in Adult Education.
- A minimum of five years’ experience in working with students in the tertiary institutions.
- Grade A Motor Circle license
