Liqhobong Mining Development Company (Pty) Ltd, a subsidiary of Firestone Diamonds PLC, invites suitably qualified, self-driven, results oriented and competent Basotho to apply for the vacant position of Grade Controller.
Job purpose
To track mining in the open pit and ensure efficient loading and hauling of ore to the Processing plant.
Responsibilities
Under the direct supervision of the Mine Geologist, the incumbent will carry out the following duties and responsibilities;
Inspect muck pile after every blast and map and record areas of clean ore and contaminated ore;
Demarcate areas where waste contamination exceeds the required ratio and ensure that material is loaded separately and hauled to the correct destination;
Monitor loading and hauling operations to ensure no ore dilution is taking place and vice versa that no ore is being taken to waste during waste loading operations;
Report observed deviations to the relevant department for corrective action;
Collect run of mine samples as instructed by Mine Geologist;
Analyze run of mine samples and differentiate between waste and ore under guidance of Mine Geologist;
Submit relevant results as required;
Ensure compliance to SHE programmes and security practices;
Ensure that risk assessments are conducted prior to commencing survey duties.
Legal and other requirements
Police clearance and medical examinations of fitness.
Valid driver’s license
Qualifications and experience
Exposure to kimberlite geology;
1 year exposure to open pit mining and processing environment in the Geology Department;
COSC or Matric with credits in maths and science.
