Medical Officer (REGISTRAR)

St. Joseph’s Hospital – Roma invites Applicants from suitably qualified candidates for the following position:
JOB TITLE: Medical Officer (REGISTRAR)
GRADE: K
RELATIONS: REPORTS TO THE MEDICAL SUPERENTENDENT
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Manage and care for patients in his/her or department
2. Review patient clinical management initiated by Senior House Officer and Interns.
3. Assess chronic medical/surgical patients and maternity clients in outpatients department, prescribe treatment and decide on suitability for admission.
4. Assess chronic medical/surgical patients in outpatients department, prescribe treatment and decide on suitability for admission.
5. Arrange for appropriate investigation to be carried out.
6. Review inpatients on a daily basis.
7. Undertake student nurse teaching during ward rounds and surgical procedures in theatre.
8. Provide technical advice, guide and support to other health workers on technical, and policy issues.
9. Organize in service training for junior Doctor, Nurse, Nursing Assistant and other health workers
10. Coordinate patient/client management with other health workers and relative or communities as appropriate
11. Liaise with senior doctors in management of patients and referral
12. Prepare reports for submission to the relevant authorities as needed.
13. Conduct priority operations research.

JOB SPECIFICATION
MB. ChB/MD/MBBS/Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery
3 years working experience as a Medical Doctor
REGISTRATION WITH THE LESOTHO MEDICAL, DENATAL AND PHARMACY COUNCEL
Added Advantage
Having worked on managerial positions
Post graduate training especially in obstetrics and gynecology
Further training and experience in HIV AIDs management is desirable
