STAR-L Comprehensive district-based HIV and TB/HIV Programming
Position Title: Outreach Nurse (x2)
Job Summary
• Assist STAR-L project medical officers in conducting nurse attachments at Baylor COE and SCOEs
• Mentor nurses at health facilities in collaboration with DHMT officials and project medical officers
• Train, mentor, and supervise healthcare professionals on pediatric HIV and TB/HIV care and treatment
• Ensure prompt and proper reporting of STAR-L project activities
• Identify patients lost to follow-up and coordinate telephone outreach or home visits with counsellors
• Coordinate contact tracing of patients diagnosed with TB
• Coordinate and plan for HTC campaigns in the community such as daycares, preschools, and orphanages as well as family testing within the facility
• Communicate regularly with project leader regarding implementation of activities
• Perform other duties that are assigned by the Administration
Required Qualifications
Diploma in Nursing
• Registered with the Lesotho Nursing Council as a nurse or nurse-midwife
• Postgraduate qualification in nursing, public health, or a related field would be an added advantage
Experience
• Minimum of five (5) years of experience in general and community nursing
• Expertise in pediatric HIV and TB/HIV clinical care
• Knowledge of relevant national and international pediatric HIV and TB care and treatment guidelines and best practises
• Knowledge of and experience performing quality improvement project is added advantage
Position Title
Medical Doctor (x2)
Job Summary
• Provide direct clinical care services to pediatric HIV and TB patients in inpatient and outpatient departments.
• Provide clinical review of complicated pediatric HIV cases
• Identify children with treatment failure and manage 2nd – line and 3rd – line regimens as needed
• Train, mentor, and supervise relevant district health personnel on pediatric HIV and TB/HIV prevention, diagnosis, and management
• Identify and build capacity of a pool of districtbased pediatric HIV mentors
• Collaborate with DHMT officials to improve pediatric HIV care and treatment within the district
• Communicate regularly with project leader regarding implementation of activities
• Perform other duties that are assigned by the administration
Required Qualifications
Degree in Medicine
• Eligible for registration with Lesotho Medical, Pharmacy and Dental Council
• Post-graduate training in HIV, infectious disease, or public health would be an added advantage
Experience
• Three (3) years of clinical experience managing children with HIV and TB
