Candidates shortlisted for SMS posts will be subjected to technical exercise that intends to test the relevant technical elements of the job. Following the interview and the technical exercise, the selection panel will recommend candidates to attend a generic managerial competency assessment (in accordance with the DPSA directive on the implementation of the competency-based assessments).The competency assessment will be testing the generic managerial competencies using the mandated DPSA SMS competency assessment tools. Short-listed candidates will be subjected to screening and security vetting to determine their suitability for employment, including but not limited to: Criminal records; citizen status; creditworthiness; previous employment (reference checks); and qualification verification. The persons appointed to these positions will be subjected to a security clearance. SMS candidates will be subjected to a signing of a performance agreement and an employment contract (once appointed). The Department reserves the right not to make an appointment.
