The successful candidate will be required to develop, fabricate and maintain equipment according to sound engineering practices and equipment specifications in their area of responsibility.
Tasks and responsibilities:
• Investigate, diagnose and perform trade-related maintenance and repair of equipment and machinery according to maintenance requirements
• Perform inspections in accordance with the Mine Health and Safety Act regulations, manufacturing and Company standards
• Perform maintenance repairs, fabrication and installation work on all underground equipment
• Report all defects and breakdowns on equipment and machinery to the Foreman
• Develop, modify, construct and install related equipment required for the safe operation of all engineering equipment
• Identify spares requirements and order according to departmental procedure
• Communicate with clients and supervisors to inform on maintenance activities performed and re-start of equipment
• Create and maintain job cards
• Work overtime, standby and be available for call-outs should the need arise.
Minimum requirements:
• Grade 12/N2
• Plater/Boilermaker Trade Certificate through a recognised institution and apprenticeship
• 5 years’ post-apprenticeship experience
• Valid driver’s licence.
Other skills/competencies:
• Good verbal and written communication in English
• Independent, proactive thinker and ability to do own job planning
• Previous underground maintenance experience will be advantageous.
