JOB TITLE: DEPUTY RECTOR ACADEMIC
AFFAIRS & RESEARCH
JOB SUMMARY
Under the supervision of the Rector, the Deputy Rector Academic Affairs and Research ensures formulation and implementation of academic policies and regulations of the Polytechnic in line with its strategic plan. He/She is in charge of the day to day academic affairs of the Polytechnic. He/She provides leadership, guidance and motivation in the overall academic activities and development of the Institution.
JOB DESCRIPTION
1. Develops and manages academic programmes and policies of the Institution.
2. Oversees the implementation and coordination of the academic activities of the Polytechnic.
3. Ensures adherence to the academic policies by all schools/faculties.
4. Coordinates and promotes research and development in the Polytechnic
5. Ensures management and development of all the Training Resources of the Polytechnic.
6. Oversees the management and development of the Library.
7. Oversees and evaluates academic programmes and examinations.
8. Ensures periodic curriculum development and review of all programmes.
9. Manages and ensures consistent and stable
ICT services provision for both the Students and Staff.
10. Establishes academic links with other institutions.
11. Chairs Examinations and all other academic related committees.
12. Acts in the office of the Rector in his/her absence.
ACADEMIC QUALIFICATIONS
_ Masters Degree in Education Management or an equivalent plus at least Five (5) years’ experience in Management for Higher
Education Administration and must be
Research oriented;
_ A PhD in Education Management/
Administration will be an added advantage.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES
_ Excellent leadership and management skills
_ Good dynamic management styles and approaches
_ Ability to coordinate multi-facets activities of the organisation
_ Innovative and creative
DURATION OF THE CONTRACT
The position is for a 4 year fixed term contract with a possibility of renewal based on performance.
