Division: Communications and Marketing
Salary scale: R394 548–R435 624 per annum (Post level 3-2)
Requirements:
• 3-year qualification in Marketing/Communications/Journalism/Public Relations
• At least 3 years’ or more working managerial experience in a communication environment
• Knowledge of developing and implementing various communication strategies
• Extensive experience in dealing with service providers and stakeholders
• Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal)
• Good protocol practice, events management, advertising and corporate branding skills
• Understanding of project management and facilitation, and organisational skills
• Sound knowledge of the policy framework in Local Government
• Valid Code EB driver’s licence.
Main duties:
• Manage the implementation of Council’s communication strategy (internal and external)
• Manage communication services in the Municipality and Office of the Executive Mayor
• Manage internal advertising, marketing and corporate branding activities
• Act as Council spokesperson and point of communication between the Executive Mayor and other stakeholders
• Oversee planning, coordination and management of publications, website, information, internal and external communication services
• Implement the institutional communication strategy and plan (internal and external)
• Proofread and sub-edit copy for the newsletter and intranet
• Liaise and conduct interviews with different sectors and broader community
• Manage intranet content regarding articles on various topics
• Manage the entire distribution process of the newsletter and intranet
• Supervise and develop members of staff and manage divisional budget
• Provide advice on the interpretation and application of the communication strategy and policies pertaining to internal communication and marketing.
