Senior Technical Proposal Writer


Purpose: The role of the Senior Technical Proposal Writer is to work collaboratively to conceptualize and write and/or compile proposals, concept notes, reports, etc. for a variety of funders, including USG (USAID, PEPFAR, CDC), bilateral/multilateral, foundations, and corporations. This role will lead/participate in proposal strategy, design, writing, and review sessions throughout the life of the proposal.
Key responsibilities:
· Participate/lead proposal strategy, design, writing, and review sessions throughout the life of the proposal;
· Work with subject matter experts to prepare material for proposals, including interviewing technical experts and/or reviewing and revising text prepared by technical experts;
· Lead the technical writing for proposals across a range of programme activities, including PMTCT, HIV/AIDS, health systems strengthening, TB, malaria, and maternal and child health.
· Support other writing tasks (including marketing pieces, success stories, expressions of interest, capability statements, grant reports, and others), as required;
· Leads and contributes to organizational learning, through analysis of proposal successes and failures, analysis of m2m competitiveness and the funding environment, and active participation in shared learning across all entities and country offices;
· Remains current on latest funding trends, policies, and innovations for health that align with m2m’s current and expanding core business;
· Represents m2m to an array of external clients and stakeholders, such as partner agencies, donors, consultants, and potential key personnel; and
· Identify and actively participate in key meetings, events, and technical working groups focused on global and country decision-making surrounding m2m’s key health interest areas.
Qualifications and Experience required:
· M.A., or equivalent experience in public health, international relations, development, journalism, or a related field;
· Minimum of 7 years of work experience in the international development/public health field;
· Minimum 5 years of proposal development experience for USG Agencies (USAID, CDC, PEPFAR) and other bilateral/multilaterals, foundations, and corporates.
· In-depth knowledge of public health-related topics.
Competencies required
· Prior success managing and writing proposals, specifically with institutional donors (USAID, PEPFAR, UNICEF, etc.);
· Demonstrated ability to work efficiently in teams under tight deadlines;
· Exceptional organization, analytical, strategic planning, and research skills;
· Ability to successfully work cross functionally
· The ability to multi-tasking and meet deadlines
· Ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally as necessary.
