JOBS AT THE NATIONAL UNIVERSITY OF LESOTHO , 3/19/2016


Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for the position of Assistant Librarian at the National University of Lesotho. The successful candidates will be part of the senior library staff cadre and will be based in the Technical Services Division.

NATIONAL UNIVERSITY OF LESOTHO LIBRARY: 

Minimum Qualifications and Experience
  • BA in Library and Information Studies or Post-Graduate Diploma in Library and Information Studies;
  • A minimum of two years experience in an academic library;
  • Understanding of ICT practices, application and tools in academic libraries;
  • Familiarity with ITS and/or Innovative Interfaces (INNOPAC) software package is preferred;
  • Experience in online and offline subject searches;
  • Knowledge and contextual understanding of cataloguing (abstracting and indexing services)

Duties:
  • Cataloguing and indexing library materials;
  • Liaise with Acquisition Department on pre-cataloguing matters;
  • Maintain quality assurance in cataloguing;
  • Maintain author and subject authority files;
  • Taking lectureship on Information Literacy lessons;
  • Perform any other duties that may be assigned from time to time by the Head of Technical Services.  
Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for the position of Systems Librarian/Senior Systems Librarian at the National University of Lesotho.   

Minimum Qualifications and Experience
  • A Master’s degree in Library and Information Science with a flair in Information and Communication Technology (ICT);
  • A minimum of two years post-qualification experience in an academic library;
  • Skills, competencies in ICT tools, practices, and their applications in digital libraries;
  • Familiarity with ITS and/or Innovative Interfaces (INNOPAC) software package will be preferred;
  • Demonstrated ability to manipulate social media devices for the benefit of NUL community;
  • Full understanding of managing digital libraries of the 21st century.
Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for the position of Librarian at the National University of Lesotho. The successful candidate will be part of the senior library staff cadre and will be based in the Technical Services (TS) Division yet servicing all the divisions of the Library.

Remuneration: 
The University offers salaries and benefits commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Employment type:
The appointment for this post shall be for a period  of two years.
