National Office
The successful candidate will assist the manager and team leader with all budget processes from planning to finalisation stage, budget monitoring, and analysis of monthly budget variances.
Key performance areas:
• Prepare spreadsheets containing national estimates for payroll, rental, depreciation and other identified expenditure items to formulate budget for national expenditure
• Update budget guidelines and regional/departmental budget templates
• Identify budget improvement processes for implementation
• Travel to regional offices during budget season to provide assistance with completing budget packs
• Check regional budget submissions and engage regional management to resolve any queries identified on budget submissions
• Ensure all regional and departmental budget inputs are received by due date
• Consolidate regional/departmental OPEX and CAPEX budget inputs for manager review
• Prepare annual budget forecasts
• Prepare budget presentation packs
• Monitor monthly actual spending of each regional office/department with emphasis on the investigation of budget variances with a view of making recommendations to improve cost control
• Monitor monthly progress on implementation of regional action plans on spending to ensure that each region is delivering on budget expectations
• Meet departmental managers on a monthly basis to discuss budget variances and document reasons for budget variances
• Identify added-value reporting opportunities for trend analysis and commentary to assist budgeting
• Discuss budget variances with regional management and document reasons for budget variances
• Prepare monthly progress reports for regions that are deviating from its set out action plans on cost control
• Prepare and submit realtime (daily or weekly) regional budget variance reports
• Research relevant cost-saving initiatives for the organisation
• Complete MTEF/ENE templates
• Collect, analyse and report on costing information received from the regions
• Monitor and track monthly expenditure on budget variance reports
• Maintain filing of all documentation
• Assist manager with ad hoc tasks.
Key requirements:
• National Diploma in Cost Accounting/BCom degree
• 3 years’ experience in management accounting
• Previous experience in a Government organisation will be advantageous.

• Microsoft Office, particularly advanced knowledge of Excel.
