Letšeng seeks to engage a qualified Mosotho professional with the appropriate skills and experience to fill the position of

MINE PLANNER-MEDIUM TERM (PATERSON BAND DL)

PURPOSE: The Mine Planner will produce mining plans covering a 1 to 5 year time frame and constantly update these plans. Output of the medium term planning process will inform the life of mine planning process..

MAIN OUTPUTS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Receive the Life of Mine plans from the Long Term Planner and translate these
into 1 to 5 year mining plans
Plan the first year plan in detail (days) with years 2 to 5 detailed to months
In conjunction with the Long Term Planner update Life of Mine plan and the
short term plan
Modify pit and waste dump designs to ensure practicality as well as designing
ore stockpile and topsoil dumps
Ensure provision is made in the plans for strategic pit features like ramps,
sumps etc
Closely liaise with the Geotechnical Engineer to ensure that geotechnical input
for slope stability is included in the medium term plans
Run“Talpac”(software) loader and truck simulations
Utilise these configurations in the planning process
Closely monitor and analyse the monthly production and ensure inputs into
the planning process from the surveyed month end face positions
Maintain records of changes made to plans and the reasons thereof
Produce Exco and Board production reports
Ensure that mine planning takes cognisance of HSE policies and initiatives
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
Degree in Mining Engineering or equivalent
6 – 7 years relevant mine production and planning experience in a large
+30million tonnes per annum open pit environment
Xpac, Talpac, GEOVIA Surpac, Whittle and other appropriate mine planning
software
Extensive experience in using the above software packages
Certified Blasting Licence
Light Vehicle Driver’s Licence

REQUIRED COMPETENCIES, KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
Operational knowledge of open pit diamond mining processes
Large open pit production mining experience
Relevant open pit mine planning skills
Ability to evaluate the impact of changes in the mine plan to the business
Knowledge and understanding of mine engineering theory and principles
Ability to analyse situations to arrive at the best possible solution
Strong knowledge and use of the Microsoft office suite
Coaching & Mentoring
Excellent written and oral communications skills
Ability to prepare and present mining plans and reports to Senior
management

OTHER REQUIREMENTS
Candidates will be required to undergo a Medical Examination of fitness as per
requirements
