The National University of Lesotho invites applications from suitably qualified candidates for the following post:

DEPARTMENT OF STUDENT AFFAIRS:
Post Nos.  0160 & 0170: Sports Officers in the Department of Student Affairs

Job Summary:
The Sports Officers will be under the supervision and leadership of the Coordinator Student Welfare. The job of Sports Officers entails management of the day to day students sporting activities: providing sports; recreation and extramural activities and events based on student-centered approach that encourages academic and personal success/development.

Key Roles and Responsibilities:
Coordinate and schedule sports and recreational events

Supervising all campus sports; recreational programs and services Develop and implement sports and recreational events

Promote greater involvement of students in sports and recreational activities

Conduct sports and recreational activities for students organizations and campus community

Prepare flyers; advertisements and brochures for the promotion of sports Coaches and trains sports disciplines To keep accurate inventory of sports

equipment

To keep accurate inventory of sports equipment

Develop and implement sponsorship program for all university sporting clubs

Arrange community outreach programs through sports and recreational activities

Minimum Qualifications and Requirements:

Diploma Physical Education/Sports Management/Administration or equivalent

A minimum of 3 years’ experience in working directly with students in the intuitions of higher learning

Mature applicants of sober habits in the age of 30 to 50 years will be given preference

Knowledge; Skills and Attributes:

Ability to coach and train sporting disciplines Ability to work under pressure

Good communication skills(verbal and written) Organizing; Supervision and Leadership skills

In-depth knowledge of current trends in sports Coaching and sporting discipline(s)

Coaching and training experience

Planning and organizing sports and recreational events and activities Empathy with students

Team player and approachable

Aptitude and enthusiasm for problem solving Flexible approach to working hours/duties

Self-motivated

Passion for sports/exercise

Remuneration:

The University offers salaries and other benefits commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Employment type:

Permanent and pensionable/gratuitable for Locals and Contract for Non – Locals.
