Director of ICT Wanted at National University of Lesotho


The National University of Lesotho is embarking on strengthening its Information and Communication Technology systems thorough employing technologically innovative strategies. Under the general supervision of the Vice-Chancellor, the University seeks for Director Information and Communication Technology to lead, direct and oversee the information and technology function.

ADMINISTRATION:

Post No. 0813:  Director Information and Communication Technology (ICT) : RE-ADVERTISEMENT

Key Performance Areas:
Prepares strategic and operational plans for the Information Communications Technology (ICT) department to ensure that all necessary ICT tools, processes and systems are in place to meet the requirements of the University and contribute to the achievement of short- and long-term goals of the University; Manages and provides oversight for the implementation of all ICT systems, security strategy and disaster recovery plan that minimizes the risk of data loss;
Ensures development, implementation and maintenance of all policies related to ICT services, including access controls, efficiency and ICT asset management;
Develops and manages the planning and budgeting for the ICT services to ensure that resources are used efficiently to provide best ICT services that are in line with organizational growth prospects;
Oversees the implementation and maintenance of technology infrastructure in line with the University’s growth plans, and changing technological advancements;
Supports the University’s initiatives in sourcing the ICT support from the private/public sectors and donor agencies;
Oversees ICT special projects, including planning, scheduling, managing and progress reporting for system implementations;
Ensures Development and maintenance of accurate inventory of all ICT equipment which reconciles to Fixed Asset Register at all times;
Leads a team of professionals within own area of control to ensure achievement of the overall goals;
Coordinates the activities of the different units within the ICT department to achieve efficient results;
Directs and supervises subordinates to ensure they fulfill their duties in the ICT function;
Leads and manages the ICT department, including accountability for ICT human resources, budget accountability, internal client service and performance measures; and
Performs other duties as assigned by the Deputy Vice Chancellor for Finance and Administration

Minimum Qualifications and Requirements:
Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Information Communication Technology, Electronics and Telecommunication or an equivalent degree with a minimum of three (5) years experience in experience in ICT environment with a working knowledge in Project Management, Strategic Planning, Finance and systems support;
Preference is given to those who have specific knowledge of and experience with UNIX, structured programming in C and SQL, administrative systems development and implementation, Oracle, data communication, networking and the Internet.
An MBA with a strong background in IT Related field and management of an ICT unit within an academic setting would be an added advantage.

Remuneration:

The University offers salaries and other benefits commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Employment type:

The appointment for the post shall be on contract terms of service.
