A Junior Open cast Miner in the Northern Cape is looking for a Control & Instrumentation Engineer to join their team on site. The C&I Engineer will report to the Engineering Manager and will also have several technicians as direct reports.
Purpose of the job
- A control and instrumentation engineer is responsible for designing developing, installing,managing and/or maintaining equipment which is used to monitor and control engineering systems, machinery and processes.
Key Performance Areas
- Design, developing, testing, maintaining and modifying existing systems.
- Analysing data and presenting findings in written reports.
- Working closely, production superintendents, internal staff and contractors.
- Project management within cost, quality and time constrained environments.
- Understanding and ensuring compliance with the Mine Health and Safety Act and applicable mine and quality standards.
- Providing advice and consultancy support.
- Developing specification of equipment to be purchased.
- Draw up critical spares list, requirements and availability of these spares at all time
- Writing computer software and test procedure.
- Thorough understanding of the operational processes of an organisation.
- Work closely with colleagues across a number of funtions, including operations, purchasing and design.
Required Qualifications
- BSC/BEng/BTech Control and Instrumentation/Electronics/Electrical Engineering.
Experience and Knowledge
- 5 years' experience as a Control and Instrumentation Engineer
- Knowledge of mining and minerals processing is essential
- Knowledge of Control and Instrumentation techniques
- Knowledge of project environment and interface between different engineering disciplines
- Experienced in advanced process(APC), distributed control systems(DCS), programmable logic controllers(PLC), and supervisory control and data acquisition(SCADA)
