Safety Officer
The role
Conduct SHEQ audits and Compile remedial action plans. Follow-up on completion of remedial action plans and report any threat or potential threat and if necessary take appropriate steps to avert threat. Maintain an inspection register of all sites in his area of responsibility = PTO'S, SWP'S and legal Appointments. Take part in any/all SHEQ related meetings and review all minutes for meetings not attended. Conduct accident / incident investigations when necessary.Record and report all such incidents. Ensure all accident registers are updated without delay. Make all/any recommendations on any matter relating to Safety, Health, Environment and Quality. Ensure all Near Hits are recorded and reported and conduct task related risk assessments on all new and old machinery where required.Conduct Issue Based Risk Assessments on all changes or alterations made to SMC machines by request or special instruction by client.Forward any and all Risk Assessments to relevant stakeholders (i.e. Drawing Office) Initiate and conduct needs analysis, risk assessments, conduct needs analysis and conduct risk assessments.
Your profile
Grade 12/Standard 10 or N3. Trade Test,( Any trade), Chamber of Mines Safety Diploma/certificate, Hazard Identification Risk Assessments Training, Chamber of mines safety officer certificate. Root Cause Analysis Programme certificate.Proven competence in ISO – 9001 + 14001 standards. Proven competence of OHSAS 18001 standards. Certificate of Competence as Safety/Quality Officer. Certificate of Competence in Advanced First Aid.Proven Computer literacy = Microsoft Office. Min 2 years experience in Risk Management Principles and/or Quality auditing. Min 3 years experience in Safety/Health/Environmental and Quality auditing environment. English proficiency, Code B license. Certificate of fitness to work in underground mining environment.
