Fitter Applications are invited from suitably qualified applicants who will be required to perform service maintenance and repairs on equipment/machinery according to sound engineering practices and equipment specifications. Tasks and responsibilities: • Investigate, diagnose and perform trade-related maintenance and repair of equipment and machinery according to the maintenance requirements • Perform inspections in accordance with the Mine Health and Safety Act regulations, manufacturing and Company standards • Report all defects and breakdowns on equipment and machinery to the Foreman • Develop, modify, construct and install related equipment required for the safe operation of all engineering equipment • Identify spares requirements and order according to departmental procedure • Communicate with clients and supervisors to inform on maintenance activities performed and re-start of equipment • Create and maintain job cards • Supervise Engineering Aides • Work overtime, standby and be available for call-outs when required. Minimum requirements: • Grade 12/N2 • Fitter Trade Certificate through a recognised Institution and Apprenticeship • Valid driver’s licence • 5 years’ post-apprenticeship experience • Underground experience • Crushers and conveyor experience will be an advantage. Other skills/competencies: • Good verbal and written communication in English • Independent, proactive thinker and ability to do own job planning • Hydraulic experience will be an advantage. Ref.
