Letšeng seeks to employ a Mosotho national with the appropriate skills, experience and aptitude to fill the position of
MINING MANAGER (PATERSON BAND EL)
JOB PURPOSE: Reporting to the General Manager the Mining Manager will ensure the effective
management of the mining production department to meet Letšeng Diamonds’ short-term
mining planning objectives and production targets in the continuous delivering of diamond
bearing ore to the treatment plant whilst ensuring the mining of waste material as per plan.
MAIN OUTPUTS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Manages the overall mining operation at Letšeng Diamond Mine.
Applies and manages the implementation of HSE strategies in the mining environment
Develops and maintains management systems and controls to track and manage the
achievement of production targets
Scrutinises long-term mining plans received from Strategic Technical Services to ensure
they are practical and achievable.
Provides direction to staff in the translation of long-term mining plans into practical
short-term mining plans and agrees/approves short-term mining plans to ensure the
optimal achievement of production targets
Co-ordinates the activities of direct subordinates and contractors via planning and report
back meetings
Ensures the correct manning levels with appropriate competencies and skills are in place
Manages budgets and resources (requested and allocated) and thereby costs, for the
achievement of production activities and objectives
Adopt and address the continuous improvement of all aspects of the production operation
DRILL & BLAST ENGINEER (PATERSON BAND DU)
improving the cost effectiveness of the Drill and Blast process at Letšeng Diamonds to provide
optimal fragmentation of ore and waste for efficient loading, hauling and treatment/recovery.
MAIN OUTPUTS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Undertake all investigations required to ensure that the drilling and blasting operation is
fully optimised, Achievement of world class final pits
Ensure that waste and ore drilling operations remain strictly to operational planning to
ensure the continuous availability of loadable ore and prepare drill pattern designs
Manage quantities of explosives from the magazines to execute the blast
Ensure the appropriate safety procedures are followed
Review drill and blast activities with key production personnel to continuously improve
designs, layouts and operating practices and strategies to reduce drill and blast costs
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
Candidates will be required to undergo a Medical Examination of fitness as per
requirements.
