Background:
The Government of Lesotho has secured funds from Global Fund (GF) to fight HIV and AIDS as well as TB and Malaria.
The Ministry of Health (MOH) has been selected as the major Sub Recipient to most of the signed grants between the Ministry of Finance and the Global Fund. To enable the Principal Recipient to discharge its mandate of coordinating MOH Global Fund supported activities effectively, workforce is required. The MOH therefore invites suitably qualifies candidates for the positions below:
M & E Officer
(Disease Control)
Roles and Responsibilities
Providing direct technical support to the MOH to strengthen HIV and TB/HIV surveillance in Lesotho. This will entail supporting the Directorate of Disease Control to strengthen mechanisms to capture patient-level data, data management, data analysis, data quality assurance, data dissemination and reporting at all levels;
Providing direct technical support to the MOH to strengthen the HIMS system (and other system, including EMR) at the district and national levels;
Provide support to Health Facilities (Hospitals & Health Centers) to strengthen the systems for patient-level data collection , analysis and usage;
Compile surveillance indicators for both national MOH and the districts, and use these to improve surveillance activities.
Host national HIV and HIV/TB data base as dispatched from the districts and health facilities
6 Ensure that high quality HIV and TB/HIV data are available for the MOH and its partners to meet reporting requirements within the set deadlines;
Microscopist - 6
Roles and Responsibilities
Follow safety measures for handling sputum samples and performing TB microscopy (including disinfection of table and hands, ventilation).
Prepare smears and stain them.
Receive and record sputum samples Read smears, Record results in the Tuberculosis Laboratory Register/LIS and Report results within a day.
Keep smears serially in a slide box until reviewed for Quality assurance.
Prepare and analyze patients’ samples for GeneXpert
Maintain TB laboratory equipment in good working condition and log all relevant log sheets.
Prepare statistics without fail at the end of each month and submit to NTRL lab in-charge.
Maintain records of TB Laboratory consumables and reagents; ensure proper storage.
Calculate required TB Laboratory consumables and reagents for each quarter
Dispose contaminated material as per Safety guidelines.
Exposure in health programme with strong analytic background on HIV & TB programme will be an added advantage
