JOB TITLE: ECONOMIC PLANNER
GRADE: G
LOCATION: MASERU
RESPONSIBLE TO: SENIOR ECONOMIC PLANNER
MAIN DUTIES
• Participates in the preparation of short, medium and long term strategic plans of the Ministry.
• Advises and assists in the formulation of project proposals of the Mini Qtry.
• Prepares capital estimates for the projects within the Ministry as well as those that
relate to parastatals, that is LNDC and BEDCO.
• Carries out monitoring of projects as they relate to the ministry and its parastatal
organisations.
6 Prepares regular reports on physical and financial progress on the Ministry’s projects and programmes.
• Participates in the Ministry’s committees such as Technical Committee on
Industrialisation, inter-Ministerial Task Team on the attraction and maintenance of Foreign Direct Investment.
• Participates in the Ministry/Donors cooperation meeting.
JOB SPECIFICATION
Education and Training
Masters in Economics/ Statistics
OR
Bachelors’ degree in Economics / Statistics;
Work Experience
Two (2) years in the field Economics and Development Planning
Other relevant Knowledge;
• Proven analytical skills;
• Proven experience in data analysis and management;
• Ability to evaluate development proposals
• Knowledge of Public Service Rules, Code of conduct and Regulations;
• Good Communications Skills.
• Knowledge of development planning
RESPONSIBILITIES
For work of others
The task requires responsibility for supervising all development planning operations
including various planning units in government.
