JOB TITLE: MANAGER INDUSTRY DEVELOPMENT

RESPONSIBLE TO: DIRECTOR OF INDUSTRY
JOB SUMMARY
Under the general supervision of the Director of Industry, Manager Industry Development is responsible for coordinating industrial development activities and implementation of policies related to industrial development.
MAIN DUTIES
1. COORDINATE IMPLEMENTATION OF INDUSTRIAL DEVELOPMENT
POLICY AND STRATEGIES
• Monitor and review the implementation of the Industrial Development Policy
• Ensure the alignment of Lesotho’s Industrial Policy with Regional Industrial Policies and
Strategies through research and analysis with other policies
ENSURE INTEGRATION OF LESOTHO’S INDUSTRIALIZATION INTERESTS
• Coordinate industrial development activities by liaising with relevant stakeholders to ensure promotion of industrialisation
• Integration of the national policies and industrialisation agenda into the regional and
international strategies and a Represent Lesotho in regional and international industrialisation related negotiations
ACT AS A SECRETARIAT IN INDUSTRIALIZATION FORA
• Convening meetings with relevant stakeholders in the designated committees within the
Industrialization Technical Committees and follow up activities
• Emote timely reports of industrialization meetings to the stakeholders
FACILITATES THE DEVELOPMENT OF INDUSTRIAL CLUSTERS
• Through encouragement of diversification within and outside the manufacturing industries
• Develop research papers to determine the priority sectors for Lesotho to promote the industry
• Development of value chain in Lesotho’s priority sectors and ensure that these value chain
programmes are integrated into the ongoing regional value chain programmes
ADMINISTRATIVE DUTIES
• Regularly advice and inform the Director of Industry on the performance of the industry
through development of operational plans and reports
• Supervise budget implementation of the department
• Advice the Director of Industry on the personnel and other requirements for effective
operation of the Department
JOB SPECIFICATION
Masters Degree in Economics/Commerce/International Trade plus two (2) years, job related experience in Senior Trade related position
OR
Post Graduate Diploma in Economics/Commerce/International Trade or plus three (3) years experience Senior Trade related position
OR
A Bachelors Degree in Economics/ Commerce /International Trade plus at least five (4)
years experience in Senior Trade related position
OTHER RELEVANT KNOWLEDGE
• Thorough understanding and knowledge of policy development and monitoring and
evaluation instruments in
Thorough understanding and knowledge of industrialisation issues within SACU,
SADC and AU
• Computer skills
Management capability
