LECTURER: INSTRUCTIONAL TECHNOLOGY

CENTRE FOR TEACHING AND LEARNING (CTL)
Background:
The Centre for Teaching and Learning’s vision is to support creation of excellence in teaching and learning; to produce high quality graduates and to contribute towards the sustainable development of the University. The Centre therefore invites applications from suitably qualified candidates for the position advertised below. The applicants must be multi-skilled and experienced academics with an education background. Minimum qualifications and requirements are listed under each position.
  
Post No. 8001:   Lecturer: Instructional Technology

Minimum Qualifications and Requirements
  • a minimum of Masters Degree in instructional technology;
  • teaching experience in an institution of higher learning;
  • a proven track record of research in a relevant field;
  • knowledge of and experience in the use of learning management systems and various technological platforms used in teaching and learning in higher education;
  • experience in leading human resources development/capacity building initiatives using technologically-based instructional materials;
  • experience in working with and providing support to teaching staff and students in institutions of higher learning.
Duties and Responsibilities
 
The Lecturer will be responsible for –
  • organising training programmes for e-learning and instructional programmes and materials;
  • organising and providing ICT training programmes;
  • training lecturers to integrate instructional media in their teaching and learning activities;
  • assisting learners to use technology for purposes of learning;
  • supporting staff in the selection of appropriate media and helping with the creation of on-line courses;
  • Assisting teaching staff and students to troubleshoot everyday ICT use related problems;
  • developing electronic repository of high quality learning materials and resources;
  • documenting best practices on study habits to help improve the quality of graduates;
  • promoting a culture of e-learning and lifelong learning among teaching staff and students;
  • Assisting and advising in the formulation, review and implementation of the NUL ICT policy on teaching and learning;
  • Assisting in the procurement and management of ICT resources for the Centre.

The University offers salaries and other benefits commensurate with qualifications and experience.
  
Employment type:
Permanent and pensionable/gratuitable for Locals and Contract for Non – Locals.
