Quantity Surveyor

Our Client –  Our market leading client supports organisations globally to succeed by enhancing the value and performance of projects and assets, during the construction and operation thereof in the Mining, petrochemical and Energy Industries.
They are looking for a Quantity Surveyor to join them at their office in Mpumalanga. You will be assisting the Commissioning Manager in taking responsibility for end to end service delivery in meeting the client objectives through the delivery of an effective cost management service.
Job Description –
  • General quantity surveying duties
  • Assisting with tender analysis, producing the tender report and compiling the contractual documents
  • Competent checking of measurements
  • Measurement of simple structures for preparation of BOQs
  • On site measurement
  • Assisting with the effective management of post contract cost variances and the change control processes
  • General assistance to the cost management team in respect of administration of projects
  • Project Filing
  • Contract administration on small projects
  • Quantity surveying duties on small projects or small work packages
  • Preparation of estimates
  • Measurements for preparation of BOQs
  • Compilation of BOQs
  • On site measurements
  • Measurement for monthly valuations
  • Measurement for variations / final accounts
  • Taking personal responsibility for making cost checks and carrying out valuations on small projects and in all cases ensuring that timely and accurate cost checking and valuation takes place in preparation of monthly valuations
  • Producing monthly post contract cost reports and presenting them to the client
  • Preparation of cash flows
  • Liaison with contractors
  • Attending and reporting on project progress meetings
  • Correspondence with contractor
  • Negotiating and agreeing final accounts
  • Ensuring that QA/QC procedures are adhered to at all times

Candidate Requirements –
  • Quantity Surveying Degree
  • Minimum 6 years industry experience in quantity surveying positions
  • Excellent analytical, oral and written communication skills
  • Experience in the oil and gas industry, process plants and in particular structural, piping, mechanical, electrical and instrumentation would be an advantage
