CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER
First National Bank of Lesotho Limited (FNBL) a highly recognised financial services provider in Lesotho seeks to employ a proactive, innovative, self driven and highly motivated Mosotho to occupy the position of Chief Financial Officer. This position is based in Maseru.
JOB PURPOSE
Strategic partner to the Executive in developing and implementing the financial strategy of the Bank. Responsible for managing and co-ordinating financial internal control measures to ensure stringent financial control and accurate financial reporting.
Key Responsibilities;
Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the incumbent shall be responsible for the following;
o Participate in the development of the Group strategy and leadership as part of the executive Team.
o Formulate the financial strategy aligned to the business strategy and translate it into action plans.
o Provide a financial input and advice to business unit Heads to assist them in their strategy development, financial reporting, tax, remuneration structures and costing.
o Manage and co-ordinate the development and execution of financial strategic objectives and initiatives for the FNB Lesotho
o Identify local, regional and national issues, which could have a financial impact on FNB Lesotho and develop appropriate strategies to address these issues.
o Analyse appropriate statutory reporting legislation and develop and implement aligned financial reporting systems and procedures in the Group.
o Manage financial regulatory compliance and approve related payments to ensure the Group acts in accordance with law and regulation.
o Analyse and present consolidated financial information to EXCO (monthly) and the Board of Directors (Quarterly) to assist them to execute their functions.
o Act as Chairman on the procurement committee to ensure decisions are compliant with budgets, rules and regulations.
o Act as alternate chairman of ALCO and the investment committee to optimise the balance sheet profitability.
o Ensure the compliance regarding tax reporting and related efficiencies.
o Team leadership: Line management of staff to ensure effective performance and the establishment and maintenance of a high performance and learning culture.
o Financial and risk management advisory to the CEO, EXCO, ALCO, audit Committee and board of Directors;
o Preparation of monthly EXCO and FirstRand group deliverables;
o Primary financial reporting link with the shareholder, FirstRand and FNB International;
o Primary liaison with the bank external auditors;
o Maintenance of approved procurement policy and approval of orders and payment within specified discretionary limits;
o Preparation of the bank’s financial statements;
o Compliance of bank’s financial reports with International Financial Reporting Standards.
o Preparation of monthly management accounts for key business units;
o Monthly, semi-annual and annual reporting of financial results;
o Monitoring, control and reporting of cost allocation and apportionment between the various business units within FNB Lesotho;
o Strategic input regarding management of division’s finances and processes at Exco and Finance meetings;
o Preparation of semi-annual, annual and rolling forecast balance sheet and income statement;
o Preparation and presentation of annual budgets;
o Implementation and monitoring of internal cost controls
o Training, monitoring, and evaluation of performance of financial teams;
o Review of all general ledger reconciliations with bank’s sub-systems/sub-ledgers (primary review done by business unit with head)
o Review of reports on status of all Suspense accounts from key business units.
o Provision of support to all audits teams (internal, external and Central Bank amongst others).
Qualifications and Knowledge Experience;
o Chartered Accountant
o Audit experience
o Minimum of 4 years finance related experience with 3 years post qualification experience
o Knowledge of management information/ accounting systems
