EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR 

CHAL is looking to recruit and fill the vacant position of Executive Director. Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates to join our family of diverse groups of professionals, clergy, administrative and clerical staff members.

Reports to: Board of CHAL 
Location: CHAL Secretariat 

About CHAL
CHAL is a voluntary organization of six member churches that have health facilities. Registered in 1974, the Association currently accounts for about 40% of the healthcare in Lesotho. As a key partner of GoL in the health sector, CHAL has the mandate to facilitate the participation of its member institutions in ensuring that the right of all community members to the highest quality health services is upheld. The Association aspires to be the center of excellence in the provision of health services in a not-for-profit making, equitable and sustainable manner throughout the country. CHAL Secretariat is the administrative arm of the Association that is responsible for advocacy, capacity building and service provision in pursuance of CHAL mandate.

Purpose of the Job-
The general responsibility of the Executive Director is to provide strategic leadership and management to CHAL, ensure good governance and effective communication and networking.

Role Responsibilities- You will be expected to

Provide strategic leadership and guidance for CHAL
Promote good governance throughout the Association
Undertake advocacy and networking activities to foster partnership and collaboration with other stakeholders
Monitor the implementation of GOL-CHAL partnership
Ensure effective resources mobilization and management in CHAL
Ensure operational and management activities of CHAL Secretariat

Skills, knowledge and experience

Experience working with not-for-profit making but viable organizations.
Demonstrated experience in working with high government authorities and leadership of development partners.
Demonstrated experience in strategic planning and management.
Good understanding of health related issues and policies in Lesotho.
Understanding of the nature of Associations and/or Cooperatives
Knowledge of programs and project management
At least 5 years working experience in executive management position.
Sensitivity to Christian values and ability to work with varying Christian ideologies
Ability to work independently and in complex situations
Good interactive skills
Demonstrated knowledge and experience in people management
Collaborative and partnership competencies
Excellent communication and presentation skills
Critical thinking and problem solving skills
Conflict management abilities
Computer literacy and Microsoft applications

Educational qualifications

Masters in Public Health, Masters in Management and Leadership, Masters in Public Administration/ Management or Masters in Business Administration
