Job Purpose

-Provide application and environment support to Corporate and Investment Banking. Operations technology
-Ensure consistent configuration and implementation of SWIFT products.
-Provide end of day application and environment support to all participating business areas.
-Configuration and maintenance of SWIFT products.
-Monitor production environments for failures
-Ad-hoc high level end user business training if/as required.
-Ensure appropriate version control for application software.
-Assist with Installation and configuration of client workstations if/as required
-Ensure that test assets are managed and maintained
-Must be willing to travel (Local, Africa and overseas)
-In some instances may be required to work after hours/weekends/SA Public holidays 

Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities

-Effective support to participating business areas.
-Support and governance to project office standards, processes and policies.
-Ensuring business continuity through effective and consistent application support
-Support and governance to SWIFT environment test standards and processes.
-Configuration and implementation of SWIFT applications and related processes
-Adherence to change management processes at all times
-Identify and promote changes with focus on improving SWIFT application standards and processes.

Preferred Qualification and Experience

-Relevant tertiary qualification

Knowledge/Technical Skills/Expertise

-SWIFTNet Experience(4-5 years), preferable
-SwiftNet Link
-Swift Alliance Gateways
-Swift Alliance 
-Experience and good understanding of Swift Messaging
-Knowledge of messaging interfaces/middleware ( MQ series), required
-Good working knowledge of Networking, required
-Knowledge of Unix operating system required.
-Unix shell scripting, required
-Knowledge of Financial markets, preferable
-Knowledge of Anti Money Laundering, preferable eg. Safewatch, Fortent

Application Support

Infrastructure
-The developer needs to understand the Infrastructure (database and operating system) underlying the applications in order to:
-Assess the effect of Infrastructure changes on the application
-Change the application to accommodate changes in Infrastructure
-Creation of Technical Specifications and Business Requirements Specifications – The developer needs to interface with Business Analysts and other Developers in creating the correct technical specification for the business requirement.
-Task Planning and Estimation; the developer needs to break assigned tasks up into individual activities and estimate the time needed to complete each activity.
-Software Development Life Cycle; the developer must work within the CIB IT Software Development Life Cycle Framework when undertaking any development.  This framework includes specification, development, testing, source control and change control procedures.
-Analysis; developers need to be able to apply their analytical skills in all aspects of their job, from creating technical and business specifications to solving user queries to finding their feet in a new environment.
-Architecture; the developer must be able to suggest creative architecture solutions to business challenges proposed

Support
-Overnight Standby; developers are required to make themselves available for periodic overnight standby duty.  The developer on call will be called on to correct errors that may occur during the day end run.  A remote dial up connection will be made available to the developer.
-Troubleshooting & Error Correction; the Developer will be required to analyse all application exceptions and rectify them.  The Developer must also assist other Developers in tracing and correcting errors that cross system boundaries.  Some systems supported are in London and Hong Kong and developers may need to work outside of normal office hours to support these.
-User Queries; the Developer should respond to information requests from the users as well as investigate user complaints about possible system errors.  

Testing
-Unit Testing; developers are expected to thoroughly test their work before submitting to User Acceptance Testing
-User Acceptance Testing; after unit testing, Developers must facilitate one or more rounds of UAT.
-Integration Testing; the SWIFT IT environment is part of a group of integrated software systems, meaning streams of information are continually exchanged between these systems.  Ensuring that changes to systems do not adversely effect the integration between them is very important and for this reason fully integrated systems testing happens often.  Developers are expected to support this testing.
