Organizational Context:
Under the overall guidance of the Representative and direct supervision of the Advocacy, policy dialogue and report writing officer, the communication assistant participates in the implementation of the corporate communications strategy, as well as in the design, management and implementation of the Country Office communications and publication strategies which are geared to influence the development agenda, promote public and media outreach and mobilize support for UNFPA.
The Communications assistant maintains a working relationship with the other UNFPA Country Offices team and the implementing partners. The Communication Assistant in close collaboration with the Programme and Operations teams in UNFPA, will contribute to successful UNFPA CO and programme positioning.
Main Tasks and Responsibilities:
1. Assist the UNFPA country team in communication and awareness creation initiatives
2. Prepare the Representative one to one visits with key partners/UN agencies
3. Prepare high level briefing on ICPD @2014 linked with Sustainable development goals and all related issues
4. Maintain CO contact with implementing partner and assist in advocacy and communication initiatives and build new partnerships
5. Plan and design internal and external strategies for communications and outreach with special focus on the current country situation and its impact and linkages on programme.
6. Ensure maintenance of the CO web site, intranet,
CO web-based knowledge management system
7. Ensure the agency's visibility in the print, electronic and social media
8. Support creation, promotion and maintenance of public information campaigns on UNFPA activities including World Population Day, launch of the State of the World Population Report; International youth day, 16 days of activism, international midwifery day and others
9. Support development of situation reports, environment scanning, Ensure timely response to ESARO and HQ requests
10. Provides support to the maintenance of the UNFPA web site, intranet, social media and CO web-based knowledge management system and development of flash info’s and CO bulletins,

Job Requirements
- University degree in media relations, journalism, publishing, marketing
- At least 2 years of relevant experience at the national or international level in public relations, communications, marketing or advocacy.
- Experience in the usage of computers and office software packages, good knowledge and experience in handling of web-based management systems and social media (facebook, twitter
