Duty station : UNFPA country office, Maseru with visits to districts
Organizational Context:
Under the overall guidance and supervision of the UNFPA Representative and direct supervision of the International Technical Specialist for HIV Prevention and Maternal Health, the National Program Analyst for Gender-based Violence analyses the Gender based violence situation as well as the social and policy related environment in the country. She/he is proactive in preparing reports, updates and information on progress and achievements of the Gender/sexual and Reproductive components of UNFPA supported programme, in line with results-based management.
Main Tasks and Responsibilities:
Promote a coherent, comprehensive and coordinated approach to address GBV with a focus on establishing coordination mechanisms as needed
Provide technical leadership and support on mainstreaming of GBV prevention and response actions into Cluster/sector plans, programmes and activities
Participates in the implementation of the country programme intervention/annual work plan targeting young people, and assist in identification of innovative approaches to address young people development rights and needs
Support the ethical, safe and methodologically sound collection, sharing and use of data on GBV
Support all capacity building initiatives of young people with a focus on young adolescent girls and boys
Use the IASC Guidelines for GBV Interventions and related materials to facilitate planning, coordination, monitoring and evaluation of GBV initiatives
Support the strengthening of community mechanism to prevent GBV, to protect young adolescents and to signal threats or risks of violence
Contributes to the establishment and implementation of mechanisms to systematically assess the achievement of results on gender-based violence programs.
In collaboration with implementing Partners, assist in guiding routine implementation of assigned projects, coordinating delivery of project inputs, ensuring participation and leadership of beneficiaries mainly women, adolescents and young people, in all activities and initiatives.
Job Requirements:
- A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in social sciences, law, communication, health sciences, population studies, and other relevant fields.
- At least three to five years professional experience preferably in gender and GBV programmes / project management in the public or private sector.
- Work experience in programmes targeting GBV survivors, adolescents and young people
- Work experience with women associations/organizations is an asset
- Group facilitation skills; Experience in conducting trainings and in conducting protection analysis in complex situations.
- Commitment to a survivor-centred approach to response to GBV
- Diplomacy and assertiveness; the ability to respectfully and carefully confront and discuss sensitive issues with a wide range of actors, groups and individuals; Sensitivity to and respect for a range of cultural beliefs.
- Capacity to undertake frequent field visits
- Excellent skills in computer/information systems.
- Fluency in oral and written English, including for result based report writing.
