Established in 1997, OSISA works in 10 southern African countries: Angola, Botswana, DRC, Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, Swaziland, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
OSISA seeks to recruit for the following key positions:
DEPUTY DIRECTOR/HEAD OF PROGRAMMES
Ref: OSISA-DP/HOP-RSA
Role overview: The Deputy Director/Head of Programmes will work with
the Executive Director and Operations Director to develop and implement
the strategic vision of the Foundation. The incumbent will be responsible
for leading and supporting the overall implementation of OSISA’s strategic
plan with particular emphasis on programme strategy and ensuring that
all programmes are adhering to the principles laid out in the strategy.
S/he will identify current trends and provide thought leadership, relevant to
OSISA’s programmes. The incumbent will oversee the Cluster Team Leaders
in order to develop, sustain and grow programmes in line with OSISA’s
strategic mandate. The incumbent will, in collaboration with the Operations
Director, oversee the submission of programme budgets and ensure the
quality and accuracy of quarterly substantive and financial reports to the
Executive Director.
Position description: Proven competence in providing strategic vision,
leadership, financial and administrative oversight, communication and
advocacy, programme impact, security and safety, and ensuring an excellent
work environment for staff development.
Key competencies: Leadership, strategic mindedness, excellent
negotiation and collaboration skills • interpersonal skills • confident and
inspiring.
Qualifications and experience: A postgraduate degree in Social Science,
Law, Human Rights or related fields; 5 years’ experience at a senior
management or leadership level, working on issues related to democracy
promotion, good governance, human rights and rule of law, socio-economic
development and access to justice in a multi-lateral, inter-governmental,
civil society or regional organisation setting.
TEAM LEADERS (x3 positions):
1. Democracy and Governance – Ref: OSISA-DG-RSA
2. Economic and Social Justice – Ref: OSISA-ESJ-RSA
3. Human Rights, Access to Justice & Rule of Law – Ref: OSISA-HRJL-RSA
Role overview: Each Team Leader will provide leadership to their specific
clusters and build and manage the cluster team. The incumbent will
oversee the management of a portfolio of programmes and grants within
their cluster, ensuring adherence to policies and procedures, as well as
integrate and synergise work across the programmes. Each team leader
will be directly responsible for managing at least one programme in their
relevant clusters.
Position description: Sound experience in strategic programme
development to respond to programme opportunities in the region.
Demonstrated expertise in effective programme implementation, focusing
on programme results and impact, grant-making, communication and
advocacy, as well as staff development. Demonstrated team-building and
team-management experience.
Key competencies: Leading and decisiveness, results focus, management
and communication and collaboration skills.
Qualifications and experience: A postgraduate (Master’s) degree in
Social Science, Law, Human Rights or the above related fields; 5 years’
experience in leading at least two thematic programme areas in the above
cluster areas in multilateral, intergovernmental, civil society or regional
organisations; demonstrated experience in successfully building and
leading teams.
SENIOR FINANCE & ADMINISTRATION MANAGER
Ref: OSISA-SFM-RSA
Role overview: The Senior Finance and Admin Manager will oversee
the IT, Travel & Logistics and Finance units of OSISA as well as ensuring
efficient financial oversight of OSISA’s grants. The incumbent will have the
responsibility for ensuring these units function effectively and cohesively as they are vital to OSISA’s service delivery.
Position description: Sound experience in general accounting, fixed assets,
financial reporting, payroll, treasury. Managing staff and staff development
will also form part of critical performance areas. Demonstrated leadership
and management experience.
Key competencies: Strategic mindedness, efficiency, leadship, decisiveness,
resilience and composure, planning and organisation abilities.
Qualifications and Experience: A Master’s degree in Business
Administration, Finance, Accounting • a CPA/(CA) or equivalent; 5 years’
experience at this level.
SENIOR HUMAN RESOURCES MANAGER
Ref: OSISA-SHRM-RSA
Role overview: The Senior Human Resources Manager will ensure the
development and implementation of transparent HR policies and strategies
in OSISA and the effective delivery of HR services and management of the
Human Resources Unit. S/he will oversee and manage the HR unit.
Position description: Proven competence in leading development and
implementation of HR strategies and policies; effective human resources
management, industrial relations, remuneration and staff benefits, as well
as staff development will form part of critical performance areas.
Key competencies: Strategic leadership and decisiveness, interacting and presenting,
supporting and co-operating, interpersonal skills and results focus.
Qualifications and experience: A postgraduate degree in Human
Resources Management; demonstrated experience in leading development
and implementation of HR policies and strategies; 5 years’ experience at
this level.
COMMUNICATIONS MANAGER
Ref: OSISA-CM-RSA
Role overview: The Communications Manager will work closely with the
Executive office to develop and oversee the implementation of the OSISA
communications strategy. The incumbent will manage the communications
unit and ensure that it works in line with the overall strategy of OSISA. The
incumbent must also promote the institution’s vision, goals and objectives.
Key competencies: Proven competence in internal and external
communications and media relations, experience as spokesperson in
a similar organisation. Demonstrated expertise in managing websites
and using social media. Overseeing the development of official OSISA
publications. Ability to effectively promote OSISA’s brand and lead advocacy
efforts, as well as manage the communications budget.
Qualifications and experience: A degree in Communications or
a relevant discipline with media and
communications experience; 5 years’ experience at this level.
GRANTS OFFICER
Ref: OSISA-GF-RSA
Role overview: The Grants Officer will support the Grants Manager
in managing the award and allocation of grants. The incumbent will
work closely with programme and operations staff and assist the Grants
Manager to develop and implement the grants strategy, and transparent
and effective policies and procedures for grant making.
Position description: Sound experience in grant policies, procedures and
processes, including grant preparation, approval and allocation/payments
and reporting. S/he will contribute to the transparent review of proposals,
ensuring effective risk management is integrated into grant cycle.
Key competencies: Results focus, detail orientation, collaboration,
resilience and composure.
Qualifications and experience: A degree in the Social Sciences or equivalent qualification; 3 years’ experience at this level.
PROGRAMME MANAGER: HEALTH
Role overview: The Programme Manager will be responsible for the
planning, management and implementation of health programmes
within the Economic Social Justice cluster. S/he will be required to identify
opportunities for grant making within the Health Programme and manage
the provision of grants,to key national and regional partners. He/she will
play a strong role in facilitating networks amongst OSISA partners within
the Health Programme and in convening dialogue and debate on issues
relevant to OSISA’s overall mandate.
Position description: Programme initiation, programme implementation, programme impact, grant making, communication and advocacy.
Key competencies: Detail orientation, efficiency, collaboration, creativity, resilience and composure • planning and organising skills.
Qualifications and experience: A Master’s degree in Social Science,
Development or field related to the Public & Private Sector Accountability
Programme; at least 5 years’ experience working as programme manager
on health rights issues in Southern Africa in a bilateral, multilateral, civil
society, regional organisation setting.
PROGRAMME OFFICER: DEMOCRACY & GOVERNANCE
Ref: OSISA-PO-RSA
Role overview: The Programme Officer will be responsible for providing
technical and programme support to the Democracy and Governance
cluster. The incumbent will assist with the development of projects and
provision of grants to key national and regional partners. The incumbent
will provide input into the cluster and programme budget, contribute to
research, coordinate regional events and manage workshops, seminars and
meetings.
Position description: Programme initiation, programme implementation,
programme impact, grant making, communication and advocacy and
administrative oversight and management.
Key Competencies: Expertise in democracy and governance, ability
to support and co-operate on policy and programme issues; excellent
interpersonal skills; attention to detail; ability to work independently or in
multi-disciplinary teams and to deliver on multiple tasks.
Qualifications and experience: A Master’s degree in Social Science,
Development or field related to the programme area covered; at least 5
years’ experience working as Programme Officer in Southern Africa, in a
bilateral, multilateral, civil society and regional organisation setting.
