Business Line Manager - Underground Trans4 Mine
The role
The purpose of the job is:
- To identify the current/future operational constraint trends experienced by Sandvik Customers; set strategic direction and support the development and sale of trans4mine services as a paid Mining Consultancy Service Offering (both externally & internally).
- Ensure that the strategic relationship developed, through delivery of productivity improvement benefits at the customer site, is exploited by Sales Area Management teams to increase the Sandvik Mining market share and profitability with that customer.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and administer site specific safety procedures to be followed by trans4mine team conducting work on various sites globally
- Ensure the development of systems and subsequent feedback to Product Areas and Market Areas regarding trends in best practice safety features and initiatives within the market place.
- Participate actively in product cost modelling and value propositioning as and when invited by the PLM's.
- Automation Sales in Southern Africa Sales Area.
Business Growth and Development:
- Value stream mapping of all mining methodologies for specific site references to be created in 2015 (to potentially identify R&D needs, merger/acquisition potentials and productivity improvements)
- Identity top 10 MUST WIN target for Automation sales in Southern Africa and Global T4M underground studies.
- Underground studies focus is to improve safety, increase productivity and reduce waste at customer sites by:
- applying global best practices in safety, mining, maintenance, mine planning and training.
- increase knowledge and awareness ( information management)
- starting with the basics and only then proceeding in manageable steps with each customer
- defining and implementing robust systems and processes.
- implementing benchmark standard and operating procedures
- introducing state of the art technology to measure, monitor and diagnose problems.
- reducing customer personnel exposure in high risk areas through automation.
- (Strategy management)Analyse past performance reports & recommend possible future offering development initiatives according to Business & Account Development business plan.
- (Strategy management)Decide the structure and organization to enable the Operational Team to achieve targeted business results
Financial Management:
- Prepare and agree annual budget for trans4mine underground as a profit centre
- Responsible for managing the departmental budgets (both costs & revenues) and development activities
- Provide guidelines, structure and systems for the financial management of projects by Project Managers as required.
Your Profile:
Qualification - relevant tertiary education in:
- Degree / Diploma in Engineering relevant to the mining industry - example Mining, Electronic/Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial or Surveying related disciplines a must.
- Certificate in Financial Management
- Certificate in Business Administration/Development/Leadership
- Certificate in Project Management
Experience:
- Minimum 7 years operational experience at management level in mining industry
- Minimum 2 Years project management experience including risk and change management
- Providing consulting, process improvement or information services to customers in an industrial or mining environment (Advantageous)
- Contract definition, development, offering, negotiation, implementation and management
- Sales & invoicing capability advantageous.
