Letšeng seeks to engage a qualified professional with appropriate skills and aptitude to fill the position of
ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGER (PATERSON BAND DU)
PURPOSE: Devise and implement a Social and Environmental Management Plan based on International best practice thereby providing a sustainable environmental management service to Letšeng Mine in ensuring that the activities of the mining operations have minimal negative impact on the environment.

ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGER (PATERSON BAND DU)
PURPOSE: Devise and implement a Social and Environmental Management Plan based on International best practice thereby providing a sustainable environmental management service to Letšeng Mine in ensuring that the activities of the mining operations have minimal negative impact on the environment.
MAIN OUTPUTS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Ensures that environmental auditing strategies are in place and actioned
• Compiles and updates, every three years, a Social and Environmental Plan for Letšeng Mine
• Conducts ongoing reviews of the SEMP to update the plan in terms of Letšeng corporate requirements and changing International best practice
• Directs environmental monitoring programmes, compliance thereto and reporting thereon to meet corporate and statutory requirements
• Develops and implements ongoing impact mitigation strategies covering issues such as noise, dust, visual impacts, water pollution and hydrocarbons
• Develops and maintains a mine closure strategy including objectives and acceptance criteria
• Produces appropriate mine closure and rehabilitation standards
• Manages Environmental department and provides advise on environmental issues

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
• MSc Degree in Environmental Science/Environmental Engineering or equivalent.
• Code 8 Driver’s Licence
• Minimum of 10 years’ experience including at least 4 years in a mid-management position

OTHER REQUIREMENTS
• Candidates will be required to undergo a Medical Examination of fitness as per requirements.
