ADVERTISEMENTS FOR VARIOUS POSITIONS

The bi-national Lesotho Highlands Water Project (LHWP), of the Kingdom of Lesotho (KOL) and the Republic of South Africa (RSA) is aimed at harnessing the water resources of the highlands of Lesotho for the mutual advantage of Lesotho and the Republic of South Africa.

The Lesotho Highlands Development Authority (LHDA) was set up to implement and operate that part of the LHWP that falls within the borders of Lesotho. LHDA is to embark on Phase II of the Lesotho Highlands Water Project (LHWP), a multi-billion rand Phase involving large scale civil engineering and socio-environmental aspects. The Authority invites applications from suitably qualified Lesotho Nationals for the following positions which are of contract duration of five (5) years.

DIVISION/BRANCH POSITION/LOCATION SUMMARY JOB PURPOSE REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

Social Development and Environment Division:


Environment Branch Senior Officer – Biodiversity HR/SOPPO/14A/36/08/14 
To effectively and efficiently implement the biodiversity initiatives of the LHDA including in-situ and ex-situ conservation and protection of aquatic and terrestrial floral and faunal species within the LHWP catchments as embodied in the LHWP Treaty. These initiatives will serve to enhance the existing environmental practices within the LHWP catchments and for future LHWP developments.
Degree or equivalent in Environmental Management/Sciences or Natural Sciences with at least 5 years’ experience in planning, implementing catchment management interventions, supervising consultancies especially in environmental field with two (2) years’ at supervisory capacity.

Social Services and Compliance Monitoring Branch Surveyor HR/SU/14A/37/08/14
To provide cadastral and topographic information for LHWP projects and uses.
Land Survey Degree with field experience and practice licence plus at least five (5) years’ experience in Survey work including field experience with three (3) years’ in a supervisory role.

Human Resources Branch Senior Officer – Occupational Safety, Health and Environment HR/SOOSHE/14A/38/08/14
To analyse the LHDA work environment and work procedures, inspect workplaces for adherence to regulations on safety, health, and the environment, as well as to design programmes to prevent disease or injury to workers and damage to the environment, in line with approved LHDA policy and accepted international standards.
Degree in Industrial Hygiene or Occupational Health, Safety and Environment or related discipline with at least five (5) years’ experience in safety and occupational health.

Mohale Operations Branch Compliance Officer HR/SS/14A/39/08/14
To monitor the EAP implementation performance as well as monitoring and evaluating the impact of EAP programs on the intended beneficiaries and have corrective action initiated where necessary.
Degree in social sciences, planning or natural sciences, with at least four (4) years’ experience in planning, monitoring, and supervising consultancies especially in the environmental and social field.
