To assist in executing this project, SMEI Projects is seeking suitably skilled, qualified and motivated candidates to fill various positions which will become available.

EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES
TRUCK DRIVER
Responsibilities:
Safe operation of a 7T Truck, or a horse and 12m trailer in a construction environment
Requirements;
Code 10 or 14 or equivalent
5 years driving experience
PD Permit would be an added benefit

RIGGER’S ASSISTANT/STELL ERECTOR
Responsibilities:
Sling loads to Rigger’s satisfaction and in accordance with Safety Protocols
Read and work from steel erection drawings
Work at heights in accordance with Safety Protocols
Requirements:
Rigging and Slinging Certificate
Working at heights certificate
5 years’ experience as a Rigger’s Assistant
5 years experience as a Steel Erector


RIGGER/BOILERMAKER/PIE FITTER/MECHANICAL FITTER/ELECTRICIAN
Responsibilities:
Perform trade in a construction environment
Adhere to all Safe Work Procedures and Protocols
Requirements:
Hold a recognized Trade Certificate
5 years’ experience in construction
Wireman’s License is a pre-requisite for the Electrician


CODED WELDER
Responsibilities:
Piping & Structural welding duties in both Stick & argon
Adhere to all Safer work Procedures and Protocols
Requirements:
Qualified to relevant weld procedures
Minimum of 3 years welding experience


SUPERVISOR/FORMAN
Responsibilities:
Lead workforce and coordinate work activities, personnel and equipment on a multi-disciplinary project
Report on productivities and progress in terms of planned schedules
Ensure conformance with drawings, project quality standards and spefications
Adhere to, enforce and assist in drawing up Safe Work Procedures and Risk Assessment
Provide technical and practical solutions to engineering problems
Requirements:
Technical diploma/Trade Certificate from accredited institution and /or
10 years’ experience in SMPP or E construction with 5 years’ experience in a supervisory position.
Demonstrate multi-disciplinary knowledge and experience
Provide evidence of Legal liability Training
Provide evidence of prior Supervisory Training
References area required


QUALITY ASSURANCE/CONTROL
Responsibilities:
Implement and maintain compliance programs in terms of Quality standards
Ensure all clients specifications are adhered to at all times
Perform inspection and assign off site activities
Comply and maintain al databooks
Requirements:
Level 1 / 2 inspector
5 years experience in SMPP construction


MATERIAL CONTROLLER
Responsibilities:
Effectively managing materials on site to coincide with construction activities and the program
Requirements:
Minimum of 3 years experience in CSMPP material controlling


SAFETY OFFICER/PRACTITIONER
Responsibilities:
Implement and maintain compliance programs in terms of Health, Safety and Environmental standards and regulations
Identify training needs, organised and co-ordinated all training requirements
Assist and maintain legal appointments
Evaluate incidents and accidents, and formulate and implement corrective action plans
Monitor and report on HSE compliance
Requirements:
SAMTRAC


8 years experience in SMPP or E construction with 5 years experience as a Safety Officer
PLANNER
Responsibilities:
Compile progress updates on the schedule
Provide site manager with information regarding upcoming activities and dates to enable him to plan his works effectively
Re-baselining schedules
Requirements:
Trade Certificate/Diploma / Degree from an accredited institution and /or
5 years experience in SMPP construction as a planner
Proficient in MS Projects


QUANTIITY SURVEYOR
Responsibilities:
Liase with client and all other stakeholders
Measure all installed quantities on site
Complete monthly certificates
Requirements:
Degree/Diploma in Quantity surveying and/or
2 years’ experience in quantity surveying a SMPP contract
ENGINEER
Responsibilities:
Provide technical and practical solutions to engineering problems
Liase with client and all other stakeholders
Provide technical progress reports
Requirements:
Degree /Diploma in Quantity Surveying and/or
2 years experience in quantity surveying a SMPP contract


SITE/CONSTRUCTION MANAGER
Responsibilities:
Ensure all activities are efficiently co-ordinated and executed
Ensure adherence to all health, safety, and environmental requirements
Ensure all Industrial Relations criteria are adequately attended to
Ensure schedule and productivity targets are met or exceeded
Ensure quality targets are met and documented
Liase with client and all other stakeholders
Compile daily and weekly reports on all spheres of performance
Change Management
Requirements:
Trade Certificate/ Diploma/ Degree from an accredited institution or
15 years’ experience in SMPP or E construction with 5 years
Demonstrate multi-disciplinary knowledge and experience
Provide evidence of Legal Liability Training
Provide evidence of prior Supervisory Training
