Position: Applications Manager
Level: Level 2 position reporting to GM Information Systems
Purpose:
Provides a variety of professional and technical support activities including analysis, designs, procurement, implementations, documentation, and maintenance of various application systems including specific departmental and business-wide support and enterprise systems; implements the organisation’s business support systems and applications.
Major Tasks:
• Maintain a leadership role in conducting needs analysis assessments with ETL users from all departments to determine applications requirements
• Communicate with user departments and personnel to facilitate discussion and study of the use of applications and enhancement of business and decision support systems and enterprise planning systems.
• Develop and maintain appropriate documentation including necessary updates on ETL's applications
• Drive the implementation of a telecommunications data warehouse for ETL and ensure continued support and maintenance
• Ensure compliance with company policies and audit requirements for the applications within ETL environment
• Participate in and support team activities in a constructive, open and positive manner. Chair meetings and/or committees; prepare agendas, coordinate project activities, prepare accurate and timely reports
• Supervise assigned staff in training, planning, assigning, directing and evaluating work
• Assist in the development of ETL-wide standards for software development, purchases, data storage or presentation, analysis and design standards.
• Demonstrate a software plan that meets the needs of the telecommunications industry demands.
• Provide leadership and guidance to coach, motivate, and lead Applications
• Monitoring individual employees’ performance and relaying this to upper management.
• Develop a compelling technical vision for the applications team
• Ensure that appropriate training is made available for employees
• Ensuring that product designs are well document and communicated.
• Provide sound decision making for software engineering and product development, sensitive to the constraints and needs of the business
• Monitor technology trends such as emerging standards for new technology opportunities
• Engage in hands-on, in-depth analysis, review and design of the software, including technical review and analysis of source code.
• Actively participate in business processes re-engineering and ensuring systems are developed to support business processes.
Qualifications &Experience
• BSC. Computer Science or Information Systems or equivalent
• MBA or related field advantageous
• Minimum 4 years experience in systems software, analysis, design and programming.
• Knowledge of principles and techniques of analysis, design and development and implementation of best practices of complex computer and communications systems.
• Fundamental programming logic and technical expertise in the implementation of Oracle/SQL server/client projects

Performance Contract
Successful candidate shall sign an annual performance delivery contract, the results thereof shall form the basis of the continued existence of substantive contract.
