MSF is an international medical NGO which provides assistance to populations in distress, including victims of (natural) disasters, wars, conflicts & epidemics. MSF has been operating in Lesotho since 2006 under the MoU with the Ministry of Health. Currently MSF is running a project on reduction of maternal & infant morbidity & mortality in a hyper-epidemic HIV/TB setting in Roma and Semonkong catchment area.
Nurse/Midwife (4 positions)
Roma, Lesotho
Based in Roma: with regular visit to all project sites in Roma and Semonkong, Lesotho.
Responsibilities:
This post is responsible to provide technical support and mentorship related activities within MSF project catchment area. These include among others:
► Provide in-service support/mentoring and supervision for nurses on SRH and HIV/TB-related medical activities supported by MSF.
► Support nurses and other counterparts in the catchment area in management of drug supply and other commodities (follow-up of consumption, filing of records, preparation of orders, inventories).
► Assist with development and implementation of appropriate infection control and waste management measures.
► To empower clinical nurses in monitoring and evaluation tasks.
► Strengthening proper implementation of the different components of PMTCT within the catchment area.
► Assist in finding strategic ways to increase the uptake of pregnant women into SRH services.
Requirements: ►Qualified midwife with experience in PMTCT, HIV, TB integrated services at clinical level ►Extensive experience in conducting deliveries and management of obstetric complications ►Experience in training and mentoring ►Willing to be a mentor and teacher and not the person performing tasks ► Experience in data collection and analysing of SRH projects ►Experience in report writing ►Computer literacy: Outlook, Word, Excel, and all other basic office software (required) ►Ability to work independently and be proactive in identifying and addressing issues►Good communication skills ►Fluent written and spoken Sesotho and English ►Willingness to adhere to the humanitarian principles of Médecins Sans Frontières. Registration with the Lesotho Nursing Council.
