The International Criminal Court (ICC) is the world’s first permanent, treaty-based criminal court. It has been established to ensure that the gravest international crimes do not go unpunished, to deter the commission of crimes and to further respect for international law and justice. The Division anticipates and plans for external developments affecting the Court’s operations and is to be highly responsive to such developments. The Division will carry out duties in relation to state cooperation and will maintain and coordinate the Court’s presence in the field through the establishment of field offices. The Division coordinates, supports and provides planning and control for missions away from HQ. The Division is also responsible for ensuring the timely appearance of witnesses in court and providing support, protection and other appropriate services to witnesses and other persons at risk.
Under the direct supervision of the Registrar, the Director is a member of the Registry Management Team (RMT) and will be required to actively contribute to the strategic decision-making and implementation of activities of the Registry and to its overall performance and output. This will require strong leadership and supervisory skills while ensuring the effective and efficient implementation of the Division's programme objectives.
