SLP & SED Superintendent

Our Client-  A large mining company are currently recruiting for a SLP & SED Superintendent to be based on site in the Northern Cape.
Job Description-  Successfully manage and execute the (Social and Labour Plan) SLP commitments made by the Company and any CSI initiative that the company may embark on, in consultation with the Business Development General Manager.
Responsibilities
  • Developing, reviewing and implementing SED and CSI policies, strategies and procedures.
  • Ensuring that the SED/CSI Department complies with all relevant national legislation
  • Interpret and implement action plans to execute SLP commitments.
  • Compiling project plans, including project requirements and needs, for approved Projects, and implementing and managing the approved project plan.
  • Ensuring project outcomes are delivered on time and to budget
  • Monitor and report on projects as well as other SLP commitments such as skills training, Bursaries, learnerships and internships etc.
  • Responsible for all learners, learnerships, bursars and interns training programs, skills grants and statutory reporting.
  • Responsible for all portable skills training for Tshipi Borwa Mine
  • Monitor and report on SLP expenditure.
  • Liaise with community organizations, municipality and the DMR regarding SLP reporting commitments.
  • Report on a monthly and annual basis on SLP issues.
  • Ensuring that internal and external committees, such as key stakeholder engagement forum, are established.
  • Establishing and maintaining relations with all key stakeholders including the Community, DMR, municipalities and the unions.
  • Consulting with relevant communities and participating in relevant community and development forums to ensure community needs are addressed.
  • Identifying suitable consultants to assist with project implementation.
  • Facilitating service level agreements with approved contractors.
  • Managing the electronic and manual filing system and exercising document control for all SLP/SED activities.
  • Evaluating and monitoring project progress against plan.
  • Negotiating with service providers within mandate, drafting documentation and Submitting theses to legal counsel and the General manager: Business Development for approval.
  • Managing relationships with local media and press
  • Compiling project and departmental budgets and submitting for approval
  • Compiling and submitting regular budget reports
  • Ensuring company tender and procurement processes are followed in line with Company policy whenever a service provider is chosen
  • Compiling monthly, quarterly and annual reports and presenting them to the General Manager: Business Development before they are submitted to the DMR. These reports will include annual Mining Charter reports and annual SLP reports To the DMR.
  • Performing ad hoc and any other reasonable duties as and when requested from Time to time by the General Manager: Business Development.
     
Candidate Requirements-
Education
  • Matric (Grade 12) or NQF equivalent
  • Minimum Bachelor's degree or equivalent tertiary qualification in Social Sciences.
     
Knowledge and Experience
  • Demonstrate project and LED experience
  • Professional Report writing skills
  • Presentation skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication in English
  • Excellent knowledge of one of the commonly spoken languages locally will be an added advantage.
  • Communication and networking skills
  • Good judgement skills
  • Demonstrate leadership skills
  • Microsoft Office Professional (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Project, etc.)
  • Minimum 5 years experience working with the social and labour plan programme in a mining environment.
  • Proven experience in working with the Department of Mineral Resources, Department of Trade Industry, Municipalities and the Community at large.
  • Proven experience in managing LED and SED projects
  • Demonstrable understanding of SLP's, DTI Codes
  • Project management experience
