Financial Manager

Main Purpose
To provide the Management with a sound system of performance management that is aligned with the company strategy and financial goals.
To manage ongoing financial performance to achieve financial growth. The CFO will report directly to the Financial Manager and indirectly to the Country Manager of Woolworths South Africa.
Key responsibilities:
• Ability to provide Management with Cash flow projections and working capital requirements for the business.
• Participate as a member of the Management team in influencing and setting the strategy of the business.
• Compile report and advise on the business performance against strategy and plans.
• Build a clearly defined financial model and key operational profit drivers for the business that are understood by the Management team.
• Provide expert financial input and support into commercial decisions i.e. motivation for Capital expenditure etc.
• Perform detailed analysis on the business identifying and reflecting key opportunities to improve performance and refine strategies.
• Establish the financial business case for initiatives and ensure that they are aligned with the business strategy.
• Influence and administer the business expense and capex budgets.
• Prepare rolling forecasts for the business and manage business in line with forecasts.
• Prepare annual budget in line with strategy.
• Prepare and present budget, forecast and actual results at Board Meetings.
• Ability to draft and present Board Papers.
• Understand country specific tax legislation.
• Ability to assess and implement sound financial internal control in line with Woolworths and partner expectations.
• Ensure that all reconciliations are performed timeously and presented to Woolworths SA quarterly for review.
• Continuously build talent and succession within the team and establish & maintain a suitable finance structure.
• Lead and develop team to deliver agreed financial operating plans.
• Engage with External Auditors.
• Ability to manage the Treasury function of the business ensuring alignment with Woolworths standards and best practise.
Technical and Functional Competencies:
• Lesotho Citizen
• Financial qualification – CA or equivalent.
• 8 - 10 years post qualifying experience with retail (or similar) environment experience.
• Able to develop and use complex financial models and to define key profit drivers.
• Able to explain financial models to line management.
• Able to use models for ongoing Business performance assessment and management.
• Able to develop and present clear financial management information.
• Able to implement balanced scorecards aligned to strategy and to manage performance.
• Able to analyze financial information and make clear recommendations for improvement to line management – even when this is unpopular.
• Able to communicate complex and often contentious matters to a wide rage of audiences both verbally and in writing.
• Able to inspire and motivate others around them
• Able to effectively use latest decision support technologies (e.g. Retail soft, Excel)
• Proficient in the English language
