****Project Manager-Early Childhood Household Stimulation (ECHS)****
****Purpose****:
To further its goal of maximising maternal and child health outcomes, m2m is broadening the scope of its peer-based MNCWH/PMTCT education and psychosocial support model to integrate Early Childhood Household Stimulation (ECHS) and related Orphans and Vulnerable Children (OVC) interventions for the 0-5 age group. The Project Manager will be responsible for development of appropriate ECHS interventions, management of project implementation; as well as quality assurance and quality improvement of the m2m’s new ECHS project in South Africa. The position will be based in the m2m SA Country Office in Pretoria, South Africa and report to the Programme Manager, with a technical reporting line to the Head office Senior Technical Advisor: ECD.
****Key areas of responsibility:****
  • Serve as m2m Programme Lead on development and integration of ECHS project implementation in South Africa to include:
  • Technical leadership and coordination of programme start-up and implementation as well as continuous refinement based on QA/QI.
  • Develop ECHS work plans including tracking of project milestones and targets;
  • Liaise with m2m HO on technical input into ongoing ECHS strategy and programme development.
  • Support planning and delivery of training activities for the ECHS programme.
  • Provide and/or oversee provision of routine on-site support to ensure effective programme implementation.
  • Compile relevant project budgets and manage project expenditure with support from Country Finance Manager and in compliance with the organization’s as well as relevant donor regulations.
  • Compile progress reports, including donor reports as required.
  • Key project stakeholder relationship liaison and management.
  • Work closely with the M&E Coordinator to initiate programme quality improvement processes to maintain the provision of high quality ECHS interventions.
  • Participate and actively contribute to m2m’s organisational ECD Technical Working Group including ECD strategy development and roll-out.
  • Represent m2m in ECHS/ECD and OVC inter-agency and technical fora, and foster new external relations.
  • Lead project publications and knowledge management activities for ECHS project.
Qualifications and competencies required
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Early childhood development, education, social sciences or related field; Masters preferred;
  • 5-7 years relevant experience in project management; preferably ECD/ECHS programme implementation;
  • Experience coordinating and/or leading public health programmes in resource limited settings;
  • Good working knowledge and understanding of HIV/AIDS and PMTCT and opportunities for integration of ECHS and/or OVC interventions;
  • Strong design and conceptualisation skills – able to think creatively and; systematically at all project levels;
  • Proven ability in implementing capacity building related projects/interventions
  • Experience working with USG funded projects;
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and writing proposals and reports;
  • Experience in project management including budget management;
  • Experience building relationships and partnerships with key stakeholders;
  • Ability to work well under pressure, manage multiple tasks and meet tight deadlines;
  • Self-starter, team player and results-orientated;
  • Excellent communication and writing skills;
  • Cultural sensitivity and ability to effectively engage participants of different cultures and backgrounds;
  • Fluent in English and a local language.
