Vacancies at the Transformation Resource Centre
The Transformation Resource Centre (TRC) is a non-governmental organization dedicated to the promotion of peace, justice and good governance. TRC operates throughout Lesotho to build the capacity of communities and identified social groups to understand their rights, exerciser these rights, and to ensure that the benefits of development are extended to all members of society without discrimination.
TRC’s work is executed in three distinct streams: Democracy and Human Rights (D&HR), Social and Economic Justice (S&EJ), and Information, Communication and Resource Centre (IC&RC).
TRC has the following vacancies:
1. Programme Head, Social and Environmental Justice
2. 4 Programme Officers (1 in D&HR, 2 in S&EJ, and 1 in IC&RC)
3. Accountant
4. 3 Programme Assistants (2 in D&HR and 1 in S&EJ)
Summary of Job Requirements
Programme Head- Social and Economic Justice
• A senior university qualification (Master or post-graduate diploma) in the Economic or Environmental Sciences, with emphasis on development
• 5 years’ post-qualification experience
• Strategic vision
• Leadership and ability to manage professional teams
• Team player able to communicate with diverse stakeholders
• Commitment to principles of public participation, social justice and good environmental governance
• Fluency in both written and spoken Sesotho and English
• Familiarity with Lesotho’s NGO sector, including donor trends, national development and rural/economic development dynamics
• Additional qualifications in any of the Programme focus areas
• Experience in proposal writing and/or report writing
• Experience with advocacy, community training or facilitation will be a recommendation
• Qualification in human rights law
• A driver’s license with a 3-year accident-free record
Programme Officer (x4)
• A university degree in any of the Humanities, Law, Economics/Social or Environmental sciences
• 3 years’ post-qualification experience
• Ability to facilitate community dialogues and communicate effectively with people of different skill, educational and socio-cultural backgrounds
• Independence and ability to take decisions
• Team player able to communicate with diverse stakeholders
• Proficiency/competence in the use of IT (including research and statistical analysis tools)
• Fluency in both written and spoken Sesotho and English
• Familiarity with Lesotho’s NGO environment and dynamics
• Experience in community training or education
• experience in managing multi-donor funded projects
• Experience with public-interest advocacy, litigation or policy lobbying/analysis
• Additional (post-graduate) qualifications in any of the focus areas of either the Social and Environmental Justice or Democracy and Human Rights Programmes
• A driver’s license with a 3-year accident-free record
Programme Assistant (x3)
• A university degree in any of the Humanities, Law, Social or Environmental sciences
• 2 years’ post-qualification experience
• Independence and ability to work under minimum supervision
• Team player able to communicate with diverse stakeholders
• Computer literacy
• Fluency in both written and spoken Sesotho and English
• Experience with community training projects
• Demonstrated interest and/or interest in any of the focus areas of either the Social and Environmental Justice or Democracy and Human Rights Programmes
• Research experience
• A driver’s license with a 3-year accident-free record
Accountant
• A university degree in Accounting , B-Comm or Registered Accountant qualification
• 4 years’ experience
• Strategic vision
• Independence and ability to take decisions
• Team player able to communicate with diverse stakeholders
• Proficiency in financial accounting
• Experience in designing and/or using computer-based financial management systems
• Proficiency with Pastel Accounting software
• Familiarity with Lesotho’s NGO financial regulations
• Experience in managing multi-donor funded projects will be given preference
• A driver’s license with a 3-year accident-free record
