AREA EXECUTIVE HOUSEKEEPER
LESOTHO AND MASERU SUN HOTEL
Main Purpose of the Job:
Reporting to the Resident Manager, the incumbent will be responsible for managing and controlling the entire housekeeping departments and their staff members, and to ensure that all duties are performed correctly and in a timely manner in accordance with the set standards of Lesotho Sun & Maseru Sun.
Education, experience and competencies required:
-Diploma in Hospitality Management
-3 - 5 years’ experience as an Executive Housekeeper in a 5* Hotel environment
-International experience and knowledge of rooms standards is essential
-Knowledge of current labour legislation
-Ability to train and assess staff effectively to meet standards
-Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English is essential
-Ability to communicate effectively with staff and guests at all levels
-Computer literacy
-Ability to work and cope under great pressure
-Strong management skills in the areas of decision-making and delegation
Key Responsibility Areas:
-To act without prior approval on all policies and procedures as set by management and take full accountability for those actions
-Ensure that sufficient staff are scheduled and they report for duty at their scheduled times, attired in their proper uniform with name tag
-Ensure that accurate time books as well as proper records of sick leave and absenteeism are kept
-Supervise and assist all Housekeeping staff in the proper performance of their duties
-Maintain a high level of personal service with all customers in the Hotel and public areas
-Responsible for the overall performance and day to day running of the Housekeeping Department
-Responsible for maintaining and improving the room standards, and standards of the public areas in the Hotel
-Control of all purchases of operation equipment, linen etc. within budgetary constraints and maintaining par levels
-Monitor and control, through daily feedback and weekly walkabouts with all business partners and contractors, to ensure set standards are being maintained within given time constraints
-Monitor and control usage of guest supplies, laundry costs etc.
-Responsible for VIP amenities and gifting on occasions
-Ensure that correct stock count procedures are being followed
-Ensure that all faulty equipment is reported to the relevant department and logged in the Housekeeping maintenance file
-Be responsible for all staff members on-the-job training and cross training
