The Youth Career Assistant Association was founded in 2012 as a not-for-profit association of the youth committed to career development assistance, personal branding and professional enrichment. It is committed to facilitation of creative ways to increase the success of others by equipping them to do what they love and create dream careers.
The Association has elected the Executive Committee to lead the process to empower the youth in identifying their passion, purpose, process and position so that they can live life boldly and transform their gifts and strengths into a career that matches their values and goals, Facilitate the professional development of the youth via powerful and personal branding strategies, give the youth tools to unleash their expertise and do what they love and the graduates opportunity to connect with the employers, the employers to connect with the graduates and the graduates to connect with one another, create a platform where top authorities can share their success secrets in business, career and life and help the youth to invent or reinvent themselves, create careers to generate additional and multiple streams of income.
The Association’s Executive Committee by its resolution and sole discretion, is now recruiting a team of highly qualified professionals with specialized skills to support and assist the Executive Committee in accomplishing the Association’s goals and objectives.
Applications are therefore invited from suitably qualified candidates for the following position:
JOB TITLE : Legal Consultant
RESPONSIBLE TO : Executive Committee
MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB
To provide accurate and timely legal advice to LesCAss’s Executive Committee and members on all legal matters that impact, or may impact, on the LesCAss, and to support LesCAss in the identification and management of legal risks to the Association.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provision of legal advice to the Association and members of the Association’s Executive committee.
Representation of the LesCAss in the Courts of law.
Investigation of alleged infringement of LesCAss’s constitution by members.
MAIN DUTIES:
Advises the Association on all legal matters.
Provides/obtains legal opinions on issues raised in the LesCAss’s operations.
Provides advice on Lesotho’s Society’s Act related issues.
Analyses and provides advice on legal proceedings on behalf of the LesCAss.
Participates in contract/agreement discussion on behalf of LesCAss
Adds comments on the contracts/agreements.
JOB SPECIFICTION
Education and Training
· LLB
· Admission as an Advocate or Attorney in the courts of Lesotho is required.
SKILLS
Excellent drafting skills including drafting statutory instruments;
Confidence, sound judgment and self-reliance;
Ability to work autonomously and on own initiative:
Ability to prioritize and work well under pressure;
Ability to interpret legislation into practical application;
Diplomatic and robust personality;
Strong analytical skills and ability to analyze complex issues.
SUCCESS MEASURES
High quality and timely legal advice to the Executive Committee and other members within the Association;
All proceedings are dealt with to high standards of quality and within agreed time-scales;
Resilient and able to deliver under pressure. Thoroughly organized in face of constantly changing workloads. Juggles multiple projects across team/s. Prioritizes and re-prioritizes workloads in line with multiple needs.
Takes full ownership. Demonstrates focused determination to complete work on time. Seen as reliable, trustworthy and dedicated. Demonstrates personal flexibility and commitment to get work done.
TERMS AND CONDITIONS
With regard to Sections 6.2 and 6.3 of the LesCAss’s constitution respectively:
· The Organisation may not give any of its money or property to its members or office bearers.
· A member or office bearer of the Organisation can only get money back from the Organisation for expenses that she or he has paid for or on behalf of the Organisation
