TITLE: Learning & Development Consultant

REPORTING TO: Head Human Capital
PURPOSE OF JOB: The purpose of this role is to understand the strategy and identify the capabilities and related training interventions, and contribute to identifying and implementing innovative and sustainable learning &development process, programmes, systems and standards across their area of responsibility to ensure that all staff are optimally skilled in the different product and services.
SUMMARY OF KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Business and Management Consulting
In line with global expectations and the overall Standard Bank Strategy and based on a clear and deep understanding of the product challenges facing their area of specialisation, advise line stakeholders on the most effective way to meet and solve their learning and development challenges.
Facilitate diagnostic process that engage with key organisational stakeholders to enable a deep understanding of strategic, business needs.
Creating world class learning experiences and design customization experience
Ensure that learning solutions are appropriately customised to meet specific business unit, country and product requirements.
Ensure that policies, processes and procedures that address quality control issues are implemented and adhered to.
Measure and evaluate impact of learning against business needs and performance requirements using benchmarked and credible measurement frameworks.
Ensure that initiatives are consistently assessed to determine the ROI; shares this with the broader business in a manner which grows credibility and buy in.
Safeguard the integrity and reputation of the Bank by ensuring that all L&D processes reflect the Bank values and are aligned to global, regional and local legal and regulatory requirements.
Building and leveraging networks
Ensure that communication with and feedback to Learning Solution Designers are clear, proactive and business oriented.
Partner with the business to provide a value adding service that supports them in achieving their business objectives.
Identify, develop and maintain a partnership/network of reputable external providers/vendors and ensures that they understand, are aligned to and meet the business (clients) needs.
Leverage economies of scale by cooperatively working with the broader Standard Bank L&D community to leverage off existing relationships, platforms, solutions, etc.
Research
Keep up to date with new L&D trends, technologies and methodologies; ensure that the Learning team is knowledgeable in and consistently improves the L&D offering in line with new developments.
Direct and coordinate relevant research on current and recommended L&D processes/initiatives e.g. skill transfer and retention, skills vs. needs analysis, cost vs. benefit, ROI, etc.
People Management
Influence to inspire, motivate, lead and manage the L&D team.
Influence the recruitment, development and retention of relevant skills in order to meet the business needs.
Ensure skills assessments and competency based training takes place as and when required.
Build organisational capabilities through evaluating likely future requirements ensuring that individuals are provided with the best possible development opportunities in line with these.
KNOWLEDGE:
Knowledge of learning systems and technology
Instructional design and learning architecture
Expert in learning architecture
Requirements analysis and Learning solution design techniques
Budgeting and financial management
Banking industry and financial institutions is added advantage
QUALIFICATION:
A degree or post graduate diploma or honours degree in Human Resources Management or closely related field.
EXPERIENCE:
Strong L&D background/ experience
Learning and Development Architecture and Learning Design Methodologies at management level
Managing and creating a high performing team
Business partnering/consulting and managing diverse, complex relationships
