The bi-national Lesotho Highlands Water Project (LHWP), of the Kingdom of Lesotho (KOL) and the Republic of South Africa (RSA) is aimed at harnessing the water resources of the highlands of Lesotho for the mutual advantage of Lesotho and the Republic of South Africa.
The Lesotho Highlands Development Authority (LHDA) was set up to implement and operate that part of the LHWP that falls within the borders of Lesotho. LHDA is to embark on Phase II of the Lesotho Highlands Water Project (LHWP), a multi-billion rand Phase involving large scale civil engineering and socio-environmental aspects. The Authority invites applications from suitably qualified Lesotho Nationals for the position of TAX ACCOUNTANT in the FINANCE BRANCH.
TAX ACCOUNTANT – MASERU – HR/TA/14A/31/05/14
Qualifications:
Chartered Accountant.
Experience:
A minimum of three (3) years’ experience in a Senior Accounting position, and must have Tax Administration experience as well as dealing with the Lesotho Revenue Authority.
Purpose:
To provide guidance, direction, implementation of new tax regime for LHDA in accordance with Article 14 stipulations of the new LHWP agreement and Government of Lesotho (GOL) tax laws.
Major Tasks and Performance Requirements:
To monitor and supervise processing of tax on transactions.
Monthly allocation of taxes between treaty parties.
To prepare monthly Lesotho Revenue Authority (LRA) invoice – Water Transfer (RSA taxes refund).
To prepare monthly LHDA VAT Returns.
To attend to all other tax issues – Dues and Levies; Withholding taxes.
To actively participate in year-end audit processes.
To manage Human Resources aspects of the section.
