ASSISTANT COMMUNICATIONS OFFICER (PATTERSON BAND BU)
PURPOSE
To assist in the timely coordination and management of employee communication through a wide range of channels to ensure ease of access, clarity and consistency.
MAIN OUTPUTS AND RESPONSIBILITES;
•In conjunction with the Communications Officer, develop and implement the internal communications strategy that meets the company’s objectives.
•Assist in measuring the effectiveness of internal communications messages and channels on an ongoing basis.
•Report back to the Communications Officer at regular intervals to ensure that the strategy is fit for purpose.
•Assist in the monitoring of the company’s internal communication programme so that internal stakeholders across the mine are informed of the company’s news, issues and have mechanisms for providing feedback to management.
•Assist in developing the intranet as a key internal communications tool.
•Assist in ensuring that messages from management are properly reflected in communications to internal stakeholders.
•Maintain the notice boards with the latest information.
•Manage the photo library of the communications unit.
•Assist as a point of contact and advice on internal communications.
•Assist in delivering regular communications and feedback to staff through a wide range of channels ensuring ease of access to communications and consistency of messages in a timely manner.
•Support the work of the Communications department and deputise the Communications Officer as appropriate
•Facilitate management communication sessions.
•Manage the design and production of our internal publications.
•Facilitate the implementation of the company’s Corporate Identity Manual.
•Maintain the company’s website by providing accurate and factual updates.
•Prepare appropriate internal statements for review by management which will effectively, ethically and defensibly present the company’s point of view and interests.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED;
•Diploma in Communication Sciences, Journalism or Public Relations
•2 years’ experience in an internal communications role
•Professional Photography experience will be an added advantage
•Light Vehicle Driver’s Licence

•Advanced verbal and written business communication skills
