The National University of Lesotho invites applications from suitably qualified candidates for the following post:
ADMINISTRATION
Post No. 0512: Assistant Registrar (Industrial Relations) – Human Resources
Key Performance Areas:
- Assists in the formulation of all Labour relations strategies policies and procedures.
- Ensures and develops an in-depth knowledge of industrial relations, Labour law and best practices at the University.
- Ensures compliance and adherence to applicable labour laws, regulations, policies and procedures.
- Analyses existing regulations, policies, procedures and proposes reviews.
- Provides practical training and guidance to management and employees on procedures and applications associated with employment relations.
- Inducts and orientates employees in employee relations issues.
- Investigates alleged misconducts
- Coordinates disciplinary and grievance cases and attend such hearings
- Facilitates and prepares cases that have been referred to DDPR for conciliation and arbitration.
- Represents the University in conciliations and arbitrations and related activities.
- In the management of such cases, analyses the awards and proposes appropriate interventions.
- Represents Management in discussions/ negotiations with Unions.
- Monitors employer / employee climate and submit relevant reports to Management for improved industrial relation services.
- Facilitates the implementation of regular meetings between Management and the Unions.
Minimum Qualifications Requirements:
LLB or relevant degree in law with a focus on industrial relations or Labour law. Post Graduate Diploma in Labour Law (Conciliation and Arbitration) will be an added advantage.
Knowledge, Skills and Attributes:
- Three years experience at a supervisory/ managerial level
- Knowledge of the Labour laws
- Skills in policy development and interpretation
- Good conflict resolution and negotiation skills.
- Good communications skills
- Good interpersonal skills
- Good analytical and problem solving skills
- Ability to work as a member of a team.
- Computer Literacy is a requirement
Contract Duration:
The appointment for the post shall be for a contract period of 2 years.
Remuneration:
The University offers salaries and other benefits commensurate with qualifications and experience.
