ROLE OVERVIEW:
South Africa is a large, important and complex market and is key to the future growth plans of EMEA Emerging Markets. As a Senior Accountant, you will be responsible for the whole accounting process and you will also act as a liaison with local other Business Units and Government entities (S.A.R.S.).
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Country Accounting
- Manage the full accounting close process for the country under US GAAP (including Revenue deferrals)
- All elements of local Statutory Accounting , regulation and compliance
- All elements of quarterly bridging between local statutory accounts under IFRS and US GAAP
- Local liaison with S.A.R.S.
- Local liaison for Dell Corporation Tax VAT departments
- Responsibility for P&L and Balance Sheet for the country
- Review balance sheet reconciliations & quarterly balance sheet review
- Balance sheet flux analysis and Management Representation Letter (MRL) reporting
- Liaison point for Accounting Service Centre (ASC) and centralized accounting team
- Intercompany accounting process
Business Support
- Manage all accounting implications for country business initiatives
- Dell and Channel Inventory monitoring, reporting and control
- Be seen as a trusted advisor and SME supporting all in country segments
Control environment
- Lead accounting CSA process for business units
- Responsibility for Accounting MRL submission for South African Business unit
- Develop and maintain an effective, efficient and sustainable internal control environment
- Work closely with EM region finance, sales and management functions for a coordinated approach
QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS:
Required:
- 5+ years of Accounting and Finance experience
- Chartered Accountant – CA(SA)
- Excellent knowledge of IFRS and US GAAP
- Prior experience of an Accounting Shared Services would be advantageous
- Very good knowledge of MS Excel
