Lab Technologist

Location: South Africa

Qualification:

• Grade 12 + Diploma Food Technologist / BSc Food Science
• At least 3 - 5 years' experience in a similar industry
• A National diploma in Veterinary Technology or Biotechnology

Experience:

• Microbiology analysis
• Staff supervision
• Interact with suppliers on a daily basis to ensure raw materials are delivered on time
• Maintain general standard of housekeeping and safety
• Ordering of laboratory consumables
• Weekly stock take
• Customer complaint investigation
• Media preparation and swab preparation
• Environmental monitoring
• Ensure the requirements of the ISO 17025, ISO 9001, HACCAP and 14001 systems are maintained at all times
• Ensure all samples are analyzed within predetermined time frames and according to stipulated testing method
• Manage timeously collation of results and compilation of reports which will ensure actions are taken out effectively
• Compile daily reports and report non-conformances of raw materials, packaging and final product to quality assurance manager
• Manage and monitor water treatment plant, final product, incoming raw materials and packaging materials to ensure quality specifications at all times
• Maintain stock control that includes stock rotation, chemicals, lab consumables, ingredients, damages, losses and rejections via a FIFO system
• Perform office administration and filing
• Daily Micro tests: Citrus Concentrates, Citrus Cells, Formulations, Raw Material received, Daily water
• Weekly spot checks: TAB, Lactobacillus, Gram staining to differentiate between post pasteurization contamination or insufficient pasteurization, Heat resistant mold
• Micro testing of Incubation samples of cells and pulps
• Perform housekeeping audits in the daily factory by filling in checklists
